Aamir Simms
Aamir Earl Simms (born February 17, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for Paris Basketball of the LNB Pro A. He played college basketball for the Clemson Tigers. Early life and high school career Simms spent his early childhood in East Orange, New Jersey but moved to Palmyra, Virginia in 2008 after his mother, Lateasha Jones, decided East Orange was too dangerous. Simms spent hours on the basketball court near the family's home, often playing deep into the night. Simms scored 377 points as a freshman at Fluvanna County High School. At an AAU Tournament, Simms' performance drew the attention of Cade Lemcke, coach at the Blue Ridge School, and Simms decided to attend the school after getting a scholarship. He helped the team win a state championship as a sophomore. As a senior at Blue Ridge, Simms averaged 13.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. In United States colleges, top-tier basketball is governed by collegiate athletic bodies including National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). 2020 NBA Draft
The 2020 NBA draft was held on November 18, 2020. The draft was originally scheduled to be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 25, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it was instead conducted at ESPN's facilities in Bristol, Connecticut, with the event held via videoconferencing. National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur United States college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players. Duke Blue Devils Men's Basketball
The Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team represents Duke University in NCAA Division I college basketball and competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The team is fourth all-time in wins of any NCAA men's basketball program, and is currently coached by Jon Scheyer.
