Aadhavan Sundaram
Aadhavan is the pseudonym of K.S. Sundaram, 21 March 1942 – 19 July 1987), a Tamil writer from Tamil Nadu, India. Biography Sundaram was born in Kallidaikurichi in Tirunelveli District and obtained his education in Delhi. He worked briefly for Indian Railways. Later he joined the National Book Trust of India as an assistant editor. He married Hema in 1976. He started his literary career as a writer of stories for children in the magazine ''Kannan''. He wrote under the pseudonym Aadhavan (lit. The Sun). His most noted work was the novel ''En peyar Ramaseshan'' (lit. My name is Ramaseshan), which was translated into Russian by Vitaliy Furnika and sold over a hundred thousand copies. In 1987, he drowned while swimming in a river at Shringeri. Kallidaikurichi
Kallidaikurichi () or Kalladaikurichi is a town on the right bank of the Thamiraparani river in Ambasamudram Taluk of Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu, a southern state of India. Etymology 'Kal + idai + kurichi' meaning exactly in Tamil, a village in the midst of hills. (In Sanskrit it has been translated in the 'Bhojanadi' (an astrological treatise) as 'Shilaa - madhya - Hariswam'. The Sahitya Akademi Award is the second-highest literary honor in India. The Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, aims at "promoting Indian literature throughout the world". The Akademi annually confers on writers of "the most outstanding books of literary merit". The awards are given for works published in any of the 24 languages recognised by the akademi. Instituted in 1954, the award recognizes and promotes excellence in writing and acknowledge new trends. The annual process of selecting awardees runs for the preceding twelve months. Sahitya Akademi
The Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of literature in the languages of India. Founded on 12 March 1954, it is supported by, though independent of, the Indian government. Its office is located in Rabindra Bhavan near Mandi House in Delhi. The Sahitya Akademi organises national and regional workshops and seminars; provides research and travel grants to authors; publishes books and journals, including the ''Encyclopaedia of Indian Literature''; and presents the annual Sahitya Akademi Award of INR. 100,000 in each of the 24 languages it supports, as well as the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship for lifetime achievement.
