''A Woman's Faith'' is a 1925 American silent drama film directed by Edward Laemmle and written by Edward T. Lowe Jr. and C.R. Wallace. It is based on the 1925 novel ''Miracle'' by Clarence Budington Kelland. The film stars Alma Rubens, Percy Marmont, Jean Hersholt, ZaSu Pitts, Hughie Mack, and Cesare Gravina. The film was released on August 9, 1925, by Universal Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine, Donovan Steele (Marmont), returned to Quebec to get married, finds his fiancée in the arms of another. Deceived by his fiance, He disappears into the heart of the Canadian wilderness to wander and soon becomes known as "the man who denies god". He is recognized by Leandre Turcot (Beranger), whom he once had saved in a log jam. Turcot insists that Steele stay with him at the home of his aged parents. Edward Laemmle
Edward Laemmle (October 25, 1887 – April 2, 1937) was an American film director of the silent era. He directed more than 60 films between 1920 and 1935. Biography Edward Laemmle was born in Chicago, Illinois and died in Los Angeles. He was the nephew of Carl Laemmle, founder of Universal Studios. His half sister was Carla Laemmle, dancer and actress and his brother was director Ernst Laemmle. He married Peppi Heller on April 8, 1923; the couple had two girls, Constance and Carlotta, and settled in Beverly Hills, California. Rosa Rosanova (June 23, 1869 – May 29, 1944) was a Russian-born stage and film actress. She appeared in numerous American films as a starring or supporting actress in the 1920s and 1930s Biography Born in Russia, Rosanova completed her schooling at age 16 in Moscow. As an actress, she toured with the Svatloff repertory company in Russia, and in 1906 travelled to the United States touring with the Orlanoff company. She immigrated to the United States some time before the Russian Revolution. Like Vera Gordon, Rosanova frequently portrayed Jewish mothers in early American silent films.
