A Woman's Experience
''A Woman's Experience'' is a 1919 silent film drama directed by Perry N. Vekroff and starring Sam Hardy and Mary Boland. It was filmed in 1918 and released in early 1919. This film is preserved by the Library of Congress. Plot As described in a film magazine, growing tired of the monotonous country life, George Roydant (Hardy) and his wife Agnes (Boland) move to the city, where they become involved in financial difficulties after the husband has an affair with an adventuress, Attlie Damuron (Uzzell). Agnes' name becomes coupled with that of a Count, and when she learns of her husband's duplicity, she turns to the Count. The Count attempts to force his attentions on her and in his excitement accidentally drinks a cup of poison and dies in her room. She is saved from being suspected in his death because of a note found in the room. George and Agnes realize their mistakes and go back to the quiet and peace of the country. Perry, also known as pear cider, is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented pears, traditionally the perry pear. It has been common for centuries in England, particularly in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, and Worcestershire. It is also made in parts of South Wales and France, especially Normandy and Anjou, and in Commonwealth countries such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Bradley Barker
Bradley Barker (January 18, 1883 – September 29, 1951) was an American actor and film director of the silent era. He also created sound effects for film and radio. Born in Long Island, New York, Barker was a vaudeville performer and an actor in stock theater. He appeared in 70 films between 1915 and 1928. He also directed seven films between 1929 and 1930. After he worked as an actor, Barker began creating sound effects for radio programs and films. He provided the sound of the MGM lion on screen before the studio began using a recording of a real lion and provided sounds of a variety of animals on radio. Radio programs on which he worked included ''Let's Pretend'' and ''Little Orphan Annie''. On September 29, 1951, Barker died at his home in New York City at age 68. Sam Hardy (actor)
Samuel B. Hardy (March 21, 1883 – October 16, 1935) was an American stage and film actor who appeared in feature films during the silent and early sound eras. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Hardy attended Yale but left there to become an actor on stage. He entered the world of film with Biograph Studios. Hardy appeared in about 85 movies between 1915 and 1935, he was often in comedic roles. His best-known role to modern audiences is perhaps Charles Weston, the theatrical agent, in the 1933 film classic ''King Kong''. Hardy appeared opposite Marie Cahill in the 1910 play ''Judy Forgot'' and the 1915 film adaptation. Hardy became ill while he was working in the film ''Shoot the Chutes'', starring Eddie Cantor. He did not survive emergency surgery at a hospital and died of intestinal problems. Lawrence B. McGill (1866–1928) was an American actor and director. At the turn of the 20th century, he was a leading man for Keystone Dramatic Company. He produced stage plays and then went on to act and direct films. He also worked for the New York Reliance-Mutual Company. Career Lawrence McGill was a director, writer, and actor. McGill and Gertrude Shipman played a "dandy repertoire of plays" for Keystone Dramatic Company in opera houses across Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey starting by November 1899. In 1909, McGill began producing plays, with Gertrude as the leading lady and Richard Gordon (actor), Richard Gordon her new leading man, at the Lyric Theater in Buffalo, New York.
