''A Real American Hero'' is an American television movie that aired on CBS on December 9, 1978. It runs 90 minutes. The film was directed by Lou Antonio and written by Samuel A. Peeples. Overview The movie, which is set in 1978 and includes a disco reference, is about the real-life sheriff Buford Pusser, who goes after a criminal who has killed young people with his illegal moonshine. Brian Dennehy plays Pusser. The rest of the cast include Ken Howard, Sheree North, Forrest Tucker, and Brian Kerwin. The film was originally entitled "The Letter of the Law" (which appears in the closing credits) and was released on VHS as "Hard Stick". Lou Antonio
Louis Antonio (born January 23, 1934) is an American actor and TV director best known for performing in the films '' Cool Hand Luke'' and ''America America''. He also starred in two short-lived TV series, ''Dog and Cat'', and '' Makin' It''. Early years Born in Oklahoma City of Greek descent (the family name was originally Antoniou), he made a name for himself as a sports reporter on the ''Daily Oklahoman''. Career In January 1962, Antonio was a guest artist at Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, New York, where he directed Enid Bagnold's ''The Chalk Garden''. Lane Bradbury
Janette Lane Bradbury (born June 17, 1938) is an American actress and writer. Biography Lane Bradbury was born in Buckhead, Morgan County, Georgia, near Atlanta. She studied ballet as a young girl. In the 1950s, she moved to New York City, and was admitted to the Actors Studio. Career Bradbury made her Broadway debut in '' J.B.'', performing alongside Raymond Massey and Christopher Plummer. She starred in Tennessee Williams' play ''Night of the Iguana'' with veteran actress Bette Davis. Bradbury was the first actress to play Dainty June in the original Broadway production of '' Gypsy''. In the late 1960s, she relocated with her husband, actor and director Lou Antonio, to Los Angeles, where she began a long career in television. Dame Elizabeth Kathleen Lane, DBE (née Coulborn; 9 August 1905 – 17 June 1988) was an English barrister and judge. She was the first woman appointed as a judge in the County Court, the first female High Court judge in England, and the first female bencher. Early and private life Lane was born on 9 August 1905 in Bowden, Cheshire to Edward Alexander Coulborn, a mill owner, and Kate Wilkinson. She was educated at home, and lived with her family in Switzerland for a year immediately before the outbreak of the First World War. After returning to England, she attended Twizzletwig School in Hindhead, Surrey, and then Malvern Girls' College, before deciding against studying at university. She spent time with her brother in Montreal in 1924, where she met Randall Lane. They were married in Didsbury on 14 January 1926, and later lived in Manchester.
