Ruy Guerra
Ruy Alexandre Guerra Coelho Pereira (born August 22, 1931) is a Portuguese-Brazilian film director and screenwriter. Guerra was born a Portuguese citizen in Lourenço Marques (today Maputo) in Mozambique, when it was still a Portuguese colony. Biography Guerra studied at IDHEC film school in Paris from 1952. In 1958 he started his career as an assistant director in several French films. He subsequently immigrated to Brazil, where he directed his first feature film, ''Os Cafajestes'' (1962). It was entered into the 12th Berlin International Film Festival. In 1964, Guerra directed ''Os Fuzis'', which placed him in the forefront of the emerging Cinema Novo movement. The film was entered into the 14th Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Silver Bear Extraordinary Jury Prize. Nelson Xavier
Nelson Agostini Xavier (30 August 1941 – 10 May 2017) was a Brazilian actor. He appeared in more than 95 films and television shows between 1959 and 2017. He starred in the 1964 film ''Os Fuzis'', which won the Silver Bear Extraordinary Jury Prize at the 14th Berlin International Film Festival. In 1976 Xavier co-directed '' A Queda'' along with Ruy Guerra, a sequel to ''Os Fuzis''. It was entered into the 28th Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear – Special Jury Prize. Xavier died on 10 May 2017 in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, of a lung disease. He was 75. 28th Berlin International Film Festival
The 28th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 22 February to 5 March 1978. Director Wolf Donner successfully managed to shift the festival's date from June to February, a change which has remained ever since. This was the first year the festival was held in February. The festival opened with '' Opening Night'' by John Cassavetes and closed with Steven Spielberg's out of competition film ''Close Encounters of the Third Kind''. The jury awarded the Golden Bear to Spain for its contribution to the festival. The three Spanish films which were screened at the festival and won it were short film '' Ascensor'' directed by Tomás Muñoz and feature films '' La palabras de Max'' by Emilio Martínez Lázaro and ''Las truchas'' by José Luis García Sánchez. A new section for children was introduced at the festival. The Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize (also Jury Grand Prix, Grand Prize of the Jury) is an award given by the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival to one of the feature films in competition. Ariclenes Venâncio Martins (born 29 March 1930), known professionally as Lima Duarte, is a Brazilian actor. He played a number of characters in Brazilian telenovelas, such as Zeca Diabo in ''O Bem-Amado'' and Sinhozinho Malta in ''Roque Santeiro''. He first appeared on Brazilian television in 1950. He also worked as a voice actor in 1960s, being the voice of ''Top Cat'' ("Manda-Chuva" in Portuguese), Wally Gator and Dum-Dum ( Touche Turtle's friend). Maria Sílvia
Maria Sílvia Correa Moreira Menezes Aguiar (February 16, 1944 – July 26, 2009) was a Brazilian film, stage and television actress. Sílvia was already a well established film and theater actress by the time she made her television acting debut in the late 1970s. Her role in a telenovela came in 1977 on '' O Astro'' (''Star'') on Rede Globo. One of her most well known telenovela roles was on the Rede Globo show, ''Alma gêmea'' (''Soulmate''), in 2005 in which she played a traditional, elderly Brazilian indigenous woman. Silvia's other telenovela credits included ''Torre de Babel'' in 1998, ''Chocolate com pimenta'' in 2003, and ''Páginas da Vida'' in 2006. Sílvia appeared in a number of films throughout her career, some of which were directed by Walter Lima Jr, Ruy Guerra, Arnaldo Jabor and Paulo César Saraceni. Maria Sílvia died of lung cancer on July 26, 2009, in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 65. She was buried on July 27 at the Cemitério São João Batista in Botafog ...
