''A Play Is A Poem'' is a collection of five one-act plays written by Oscar Award-winning screenwriter Ethan Coen, featuring original music written by Nellie McKay. The play had its world premiere at Center Theatre Group's Mark Taper Forum in 2019. The play began previews on September 11, 2019 and officially opened on September 21, 2019. The production played through October 13, 2019 and was set to begin performances at The Atlantic Theatre Company's ''Atlantic Stage 2'' on May 14, 2020 but is currently postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Mark Taper Forum is a 739-seat thrust stage at the Los Angeles Music Center designed by Welton Becket and Associates on the Bunker Hill section of Downtown Los Angeles. Named for real estate developer Mark Taper, the Forum, the neighboring Ahmanson Theatre and the Kirk Douglas Theatre are all operated by the Center Theatre Group.
