Harry Beaumont
Harry Beaumont (10 February 1888 – 22 December 1966) was an American film director, actor, and screenwriter. He worked for a variety of production companies including 20th Century Fox, Fox, Goldwyn Pictures Corporation, Goldwyn, Metro Pictures Corporation, Metro, Warner Brothers, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Career Beaumont's greatest successes were during the silent film era, when he directed films including John Barrymore's ''Beau Brummel (1924 film), Beau Brummel'' (1924) and the silent youth movie ''Our Dancing Daughters'' (1928), featuring Joan Crawford. He then directed MGM's first talkie musical, ''The Broadway Melody'' (1929). The latter film won the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Picture Academy Award that year, and Beaumont was nominated for Academy Award for Best Director, Best Director. Malcolm McGregor
Malcolm McGregor (October 13, 1892 – April 29, 1945) was an American actor of the silent era. McGregor appeared in more than 50 films between 1922 and 1936. He was born in Newark, New Jersey and died in Hollywood, California. A cross between Wallace Reid, Rudolph Valentino, and the earlier Harrison Ford, McGregor, with slicked-back hair, starred as the young whaling captain in a film version of Ben Ames Williams' '' All the Brothers Were Valiant'' (1923), perhaps the highlight of a busy career that mostly found the handsome, clean-cut actor supporting such glamorous female stars as Corinne Griffith, Florence Vidor, and Evelyn Brent. Bert Woodruff
William Herbert "Bert" Woodruff (April 29, 1856 – June 14, 1934) was an American actor of the silent era. Woodruff was born in Peoria, Illinois, and was the son of Mrs. Hannah Woodruff. He performed on stage before he began acting on film, debuting in 1876 as part of the Woodruff and West song-and-dance act. His performances included blackface comedy and Irish specialties. In 1882, he became part of the Adelphi Theater stock company in Peoria, where he worked for seven years. In 1898, Woodruff moved into management, opening a vaudeville theater in Peoria and managing it until 1904. From there he went to Redondo Beach, California, where he opened the city's first theater for films. He appeared in more than 60 films between 1916 and 1931. Alfred Allen (April 8, 1866 – June 18, 1947) was an American silent film actor and author. Early life Allen was born in Alfred, New York. His parents were Jonathan Macomber Allen (1823-1892), president of Alfred University, and Abigail Ann (Maxson) Allen (1824-1894). Alfred's siblings were William (b. 1853), Eva (b. 1856), and May (b. 1860). He attended Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the New England Conservatory of Music and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Alfred University. Film Allen was signed in 1915 and starred in 106 films before his retirement in 1935.
