A New World (EP)
''A New World'' is an EP by Ronnie Drew, produced by Phil Coulter. It was released through the ''Sunday World'' newspaper prior to the release of Drew's album ''There's Life In The Old Dog Yet'' in October 2006. As well as the title track from the forthcoming album, the EP also featured Drew's interpretations of several of Coulter's own compositions, many of which had previously been recorded by other artists. All of the recordings were new except for "Take Me Home", which features The Dubliners and which originally appeared on Phil Coulter's 1989 album '' Words & Music''. Ronnie Drew
Joseph Ronald Drew (16 September 1934 – 16 August 2008) was an Irish people, Irish singer, folk musician and actor who achieved international fame during a fifty-year career recording with The Dubliners. He is most recognised for his lead vocals on the single "Seven Drunken Nights" and "The Irish Rover" both charting in the UK top 10 and then performed on ''Top of the Pops, TOTP''. He was recognisable for his long beard and pale blue eyes and his voice, which was once described by Nathan Joseph as being "like the sound of Coke (fuel), coke being crushed under a door". Early life Ronnie Drew was born in Dún Laoghaire, Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin in 1934. Phil Coulter
Philip Coulter (born 19 February 1942) is an Irish musician, songwriter and record producer from Derry, Northern Ireland. He was awarded the Gold Badge from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors in October 2009. Coulter has amassed 23 platinum discs, 39 gold discs, 52 silver discs, two Grand Prix Eurovision awards; five Ivor Novello Awards, which includes Songwriter of the Year; three American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers awards; a Grammy Nomination; a Meteor Award, a National Entertainment Award and a Rose d'or d'Antibes. He is one of the biggest record sellers in the island of Ireland. Produced by Phil Coulter, who wrote the title track, Drew recorded this album of songs about growing old shortly before being diagnosed with Esophageal cancer, throat cancer in 2006, an irony which was commented on a few months later by both men on ''The Late Late Show (Ireland), The Late Late Show''. The album contains many oldies or Standard (music), standards, with the predominant theme of the album being old age and death. Even the traditionally upbeat singalong "The Wild Rover" has been transformed here into a lament. Whereas in the traditional version, the singer is saying he "will play the wild rover no more", this is his own choice; but in the version here, the reason is thar he is no longer able. Not all the songs are downbeat and mournful. The title track is optimistic and "Wait Till The Clouds Roll By" is optimistic also: "Jenny, we'll be together / Just wait 'til the clouds roll by." T ...

Sunday World
The ''Sunday World'' is an Irish newspaper published by Independent News & Media. It is the second largest selling "popular" newspaper in the Republic of Ireland, and is also sold in Northern Ireland where a modified edition with more stories relevant to that region is produced. It was first published on 25 March 1973. Until 25 December 1988 all editions were printed in Dublin but since 1 January 1989 a Northern Ireland edition has been published and an English edition has been printed in London since March 1992. The Dubliners
The Dubliners were an Folk music of Ireland, Irish folk band founded in Dublin in 1962 as The Ronnie Drew Ballad Group, named after its founding member; they subsequently renamed themselves The Dubliners. The line-up saw many changes in personnel over their fifty-year career, but the group's success was centred on lead singers Luke Kelly and Ronnie Drew. The band garnered international success with their lively Irish folk songs, traditional street ballads and instrumentals. The band were regulars on the folk scenes in both Dublin and London in the early 1960s, and were signed to the Major Minor Records, Major Minor label in 1965 after backing from Dominic Behan who was paid by Major-Minor to work with the Dubliners and help them to build a better act fit for larger concert hall venues.
