CEC Awards
The CEC Awards or CEC Medals ( es, links=no, Medallas del CEC), whose full name is , are awards presented annually by the CÃrculo de Escritores Cinematográficos (CEC; ) to distinguish films, artists, technicians, and writers related to cinema, both Spanish and international. The ceremony held its first edition in 1946, when it awarded prizes in thirteen different categories. The categories have varied over time, and in 2016, there were twenty. The awards went through a period of crisis in the 1980s, and the ceremony was suspended from 1986 until 1990. The prize consists of a simple bronze medal and has no financial prize attached to it. Matilde Artero is a Spanish actress who appeared in films from 1926 through 1961. She began her work in silent films, starting with Luis R. Alonso's ''La loca de la casa'' for Producciones Hornemann. Ana MarÃa Arroyo Mariscal (31 July 1923 – 28 March 1995) better known as Ana Mariscal was a classic Spanish film actress, director, screenwriter and film producer. She also acted in Argentinean films. She was involved in well over 50 films between 1940 and 1968, frequently starring in films she also wrote and directed. She is iconic to 1940s and 50s Spanish cinema. Her brother Luis Arroyo (1915–1956) was also an actor and film director. Early life and education Mariscal was born in Madrid in 1923 to a middle-class family. Her father owned a furniture store and a theater that would provide Mariscal much of her early exposure to acting. While occasionally appearing in theater productions with her brother, Mariscal intended to go to university to study mathematics. She decided to pursue acting after being incidentally cast in her first film role.
