''A Man Betrayed'' (UK title ''Citadel of Crime'', TV title ''Wheel of Fortune'') is a 1941 American film directed by John H. Auer and starring John Wayne. Plot Lynn Hollister, a bucolic lawyer takes on big-city corruption. He sets out to prove that an above-suspicion politician Boss Thomas "Tom" Cameron is actually a crook. Tim Ryan (actor)
Timothy Thomas Ryan (July 5, 1899 – October 22, 1956) was an American performer and film actor. His wife, Irene Ryan, who later played Granny on ''The Beverly Hillbillies'', and he were a show-business team who performed on Broadway, in films, and on radio. They made short films for Educational Pictures in the mid-1930s based on their vaudeville act. They were married from 1922 to 1942. Even after their divorce in 1942, the couple occasionally worked together. In the 1940s, Ryan found opportunities at Monogram Pictures, where he acted in films and wrote screenplays. In films of the 1940s and the early 1950s, Ryan appeared onscreen playing numerous roles as policemen, newspaper editors, and detectives. He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, to Edward and Hannah (McGeehan) Ryan, and died in Los Angeles at the age of 57. John Wayne Filmography
American actor, director, and producer John Wayne (1907–1979) began working on films as an extra, prop man and stuntman, mainly for the Fox Film Corporation. He frequently worked in minor roles with director John Ford and when Raoul Walsh suggested him for the lead in ''The Big Trail'' (1930), an epic Western shot in an early widescreen process called Fox Grandeur, Ford vouched for him. Wayne's early period as a star would be brief, as Fox dropped him after only three leads. He then appeared in a string of low-budget action films (mostly Westerns) before garnering more recognition with the 1939 film ''Stagecoach''. Ferris Taylor
Robert Ferris Taylor (March 25, 1888 – March 7, 1961) was an American film actor and vaudeville performer. Biography Taylor owned a vaudeville company, the Taylor Players. Besides his acting, Taylor sometimes sang in vaudeville programs. A 1922 newspaper article noted, "he possesses a deep baritone-basso voice". The group included his brother, Glen H. Taylor, who later became a U.S. senator from Idaho. In 1930, Taylor went to Hollywood, gaining a few appearances in films in bit parts and as an extra. He eventually appeared in more than 120 films between 1933 and 1958. He also made guest appearances on ''The Cisco Kid'' starring Duncan Renaldo and Leo Carillo in the early 1950s. He died in Hollywood, California from a heart attack.
