''A Fresh Air Romance'' is an American silent film produced by the Edison Company in 1912. Plot Old Dr. Fogg has been practicing medicine in the same small town for several decades when he takes his son, a recent medical school graduate, as a partner in his practice. The young doctor quickly realizes that his father's methods are outdated, and harmful, and tries to work around them. In the process, he finds romance with one of his father's patients. Release The film was released in the United States on October 12, 1912. It was exhibited in Aberaman, Wales in February, 1913. George Lessey
George Lessey (June 8, 1879 – June 3, 1947) was an American actor and director of the silent era. He appeared in more than 120 films between 1910 and 1946. He also directed more than 70 films between 1913 and 1922. Lessey was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, and as a boy he acted in theatrical productions there. He graduated from Amherst College. For a year, Lessey was a leading man for Edison Studios, after which he directed films for the company for two years. In 1914, he joined Universal Studios as a director. He portrayed Romeo in the initial film version of ''Romeo and Juliet'', directed the first serial, ''What Happened to Mary'', and played the first dual role in film as twins in ''The Corsican Brothers.'' On stage, Lessey appeared in the original Broadway production of ''Porgy and Bess'' (1935) in one of the few white roles, that of the lawyer Mr. Archdale. Gertrude McCoy
Gertrude McCoy (born Gertrude Lyon; June 30, 1890 – July 17, 1967) was an American film actress of the silent era. She appeared in more than 160 films between 1911 and 1926. McCoy was born in Rome, Georgia, on June 30, 1896, and she attended schools in Nassau, Tennessee. McCoy was a Gibson Girl, modeling for artist Charles Dana Gibson, before she acted. She began working for Gaumont studios in 1916 and also acted for Zitaphone, Biograph, and Pathe. In 1915, the Gertrude McCoy Theater opened in West Baltimore's Easterwood section. It was built by the Lord Calvert Amusement Company. When McCoy retired in 1927, the 500-seat theater's name was changed to the Fulton Theater. McCoy married British actor Duncan McRae in 1919. Together, they made films in England, Germany, and South America. In the 1930s, McCoy moved to Atlanta to care for her mother, who was an invalid. Shirley Mason (born Leonie Flugrath, June 6, 1901 – July 27, 1979) was an American actress of the silent era. Biography Mason was born in 1901 in Brooklyn, New York, to Emil and Mary (née Dubois) Flugrath. She and her two sisters Edna and Virginia became actresses at the insistence of their mother, who had first enrolled them in dance classes at a very young age. The sisters spent much of their childhood touring with companies at Coney Island, Elks Clubs and other venues. Mason, and her sister Virginia (changed professionally to Viola Dana), made their film debuts at the ages of 10 and 13, respectively, in the film ''A Christmas Carol'' (1910). Mason's next film was 1911's ''The Threshold of Life'' (1911). As a child actress, Mason was not in high demand. It was not until 1915 that she played her role in '' Vanity Fair''. Edison Studios was an American film production organization, owned by companies controlled by inventor and entrepreneur, Thomas Edison. The studio made close to 1,200 films, as part of the Edison Manufacturing Company (1894–1911) and then Thomas A. Edison, Inc. (1911–1918), until the studio's closing in 1918. Aberaman
Aberaman is a village near Aberdare in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, south Wales. It was heavily dependent on the coal industry and the population, as a result, grew rapidly in the late nineteenth century. Most of the industry has now disappeared and a substantial proportion of the working population travel to work in Cardiff and the M4 corridor. Bryan is a city and the county seat of Brazos County, Texas, United States. It is located in the heart of the Brazos Valley (East and Central Texas).
