Charles Bryant (actor)
Charles Bryant (8 January 1879 – 7 August 1948) was a British actor and film director. Life Bryant was born in Hartford, Cheshire, on 8 January 1879. He was educated at Ardingly College in Sussex. He left school at the age of 14 to become a stage actor, and three years later, traveled to the United States to begin working on Broadway, starring in ''The First Born'' in 1897. Bryant starred in ''A Train of Incidents'' (1914) and ''War Brides'' (1916), which was the first film of his wife Alla Nazimova. Bryant and Nazimova signed with Metro Pictures in 1918 and starred alongside each other in a number of films including ''Revelation'', ''Out of the Fog'', and '' Billions''. In 1918, Nazimova founded Nazimova Productions, and it was there that Bryant began directing, with the pair creating a film adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s play '' Salome'' in 1923. Alan Hale Sr. (born Rufus Edward Mackahan; February 10, 1892 – January 22, 1950) was an American actor and director. He is best remembered for his many character roles, in particular as a frequent sidekick of Errol Flynn, as well as films supporting Lon Chaney, Wallace Beery, Douglas Fairbanks, James Cagney, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, and Ronald Reagan. Philippe De Lacy (July 25, 1917 – July 29, 1995) was a French-American silent film era child actor who became a film producer, director, and cinematographer in adulthood. Early life Born during World War I, the already fatherless Philippe lost his mother and five siblings when a German shell devastated the family home. Only two days old at the time of tragedy, the boy was kept alive, but barely, in the basement of his grandmother's house. He was adopted by Mrs. Edith De Lacy, who was associated with the U.S. Woman's Overseas Hospital. After the war ended, Mrs. De Lacy brought Philippe to America, where his stunning looks soon created opportunities for him as a model for magazine advertisements. His modeling assignments brought him to the attention of Hollywood, and he appeared in his first film in a bit part at the age of four.
