A Different Kind Of Pain
''A Different Kind of Pain'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Cold. It was released on August 30, 2005 in the US and September 12, 2005 in the UK and features the singles "Happens All the Time" and "A Different Kind of Pain". It has sold over 160,000 copies in the US and would be Cold's last album before their nearly three-year breakup beginning in 2006. The time of the album's recording and release marks a turbulent period for Cold with the band signing to a new record label, experiencing numerous lineup changes, and obtaining weakened commercial success. Frontman Scooter Ward's struggles with his sister's cancer as well as the fallout of the relationship with his fiancé during this time also provided lyrical inspiration. Cold is an American rock band, from Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 1986 by lead singer and rhythm guitarist Scooter Ward, drummer Sam McCandless, bassist Jeremy Marshall and lead guitarist Matt Loughran. The band has gone through numerous lineup changes during its existence, with Ward being the band’s only constant member. After signing to Flip Records/A&M Records, Cold released their debut album ''Cold'' (1998), which sold poorly due to the closure of A&M shortly after its release, resulting in the band moving to Geffen Records. Ted Jensen (born September 19, 1954) is an American mastering engineer, known for having mastered many recordings, including the Eagles' ''Hotel California'', Green Day's '' American Idiot'' and Norah Jones' ''Come Away with Me''. Biography Ted Jensen was born to Carl and Margaret (Anning) Jensen, both of whom were musicians. Carl had studied at Yale University. Margaret went to Oberlin College & Conservatory and Skidmore College and was also a pilot. Carl and Margaret met on a train while going to a choral workshop. Samuel Alan McCandless (born January 28, 1971) is an American musician, songwriter, producer, and artist who is best known as a founding member of the American rock band Cold and the psychedelic blues band Carny. With McCandless, Cold has released five albums of which two have been RIAA Certified Gold and one RIAA Certified Platinum soundtrack album for A Walk to Remember. He left the band in 2015, leaving vocalist Scooter Ward as the only original member. However, he later rejoined the band full-time in 2019, but left in 2021, when Tony Kruszka (of Lifer and University Drive) stepped in.
