A Dal 2016
Hungary participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Pioneer" written by Zé Szabó and Borbála Csarnai. The song was performed by Freddie (singer), Freddie. The Hungarian entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden was selected through the national final ''A Dal 2016'', organised by the local MTVA (Hungary), Media Services and Support Trust Fund (MTVA) and the Hungarian public broadcaster Duna Media Service. An initial 30 entries competed in the national final which consisted of six shows: three heats, two semi-final and a final. Entries were selected to advance in the competition based on the votes of a four-member judging panel as well as the votes from the public. Eight entries qualified to compete in the final of ''A Dal 2016'' where the judging panel first selected four of the entries to proceed to a second round of voting. In the second round of voting, "Pioneer" performed by Freddie was selected as the winner based entirely on a public vote. Hungary ... Freddie (singer)
Gábor Alfréd Fehérvári (born 8 April 1990), known by his stage name Freddie, is a Hungarian singer. He first came to prominence after placing fourth in the first season of the Hungarian version of '' Rising Star''. He later became the Hungarian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Career Freddie's grandfather was Hungarian football coach Alfréd Fehérvári (1925–2007). Freddie studied at a commercial college before his music career, and worked as an assistant in Győr. By 2010, he had not only sung but also played guitar in small bands. Freddie first performed professionally in the Hungarian version of '' Rising Star''. He reached the top twelve, then top six and then in the top four qualifiers. In the finals, he finished in fourth place. After ''Rising Star'', collaborating with András Kállay-Saunders, Freddie performed his first original song, "Mary Joe", and reached the Petőfi Radio Top 30 list. Duna TV
Duna (English: ''Duna Channel'', formerly: ''Duna Televízió'') is one of Hungary's public television channels. "Duna" is the Hungarian name for the Danube. Duna has been the ''national main channel'' of the public media MTVA since 15 March 2015. Duna TV is managed and primarily funded by the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund ( hu, Médiaszolgáltatás-támogató és Vagyonkezelő Alap, abbreviated MTVA). This government organization, formed in 2011, also manages the public service broadcasters Magyar Televízió and Magyar Rádió as well as the Hungarian news agency Magyar Távirati Iroda. On 1 July 2015, Duna TV as well as the media channels of three other public media organizations managed by the MTVA were merged into a single organization called Duna Media Service ( hu, Duna Médiaszolgáltató). Andi Tóth
Andrea "Andi" Tóth (born 18 January 1999) is a Hungarian actress and singer, most notable for winning of the fifth series of ''X-Faktor'', acting in the television show ''Válótársak'', and for participating in ''A Dal''. Life Tóth was born in Oradea (''Nagyvárad''), in Romania on 18 January 1999. She has been interested in singing since childhood and went to the Lyceum of Arts in her hometown, where she studied drawing. By age 13, she had already participated in various competitions and small performances. In 2014, she participated in the fifth season of ''X Faktor'', of which she did not duel until the finale, and won. She became one youngest winners in ''X Factor'' history, as well as the first winner in Hungary from the Girls category. She was mentored by Róbert Szikora.
