A Cruel God Reigns
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Moto Hagio. It was originally serialized in the manga magazine ''Petit Flower'' from 1992 to 2001, and published as seventeen ''tankōbon'' volumes (collected editions) by Shogakukan. The series follows Jeremy Butler, a teenage boy who murders his physically and sexually abusive stepfather. In 1997, ''A Cruel God Reigns'' was recognized with the inaugural Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Award for Excellence. Plot Fifteen-year-old Jeremy Butler moves from Boston to Hampstead with his mother Sandra after she marries Greg Roland, a widowed British aristocrat. A Cruel Angel's Thesis
, also known as "A Cruel Angel's Thesis", is a J-pop song performed by Japanese singer Yoko Takahashi. Toshiyuki Ōmori and Hidetoshi Satō composed the song, while Neko Oikawa wrote the lyrics. It was written for the opening theme of the anime television series ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'', and was released as a double-A-sided single with "Fly Me to the Moon", the show's closing theme, on October 25, 1995. Marimo Ragawa
is a Japanese manga artist. She began submitting manga to comic magazines when she was only 12 years old, in the sixth grade of elementary school. She continued to send her manga to the same magazine for four years, but failed to receive a positive critical reception. Ragawa then decided to switch to a different magazine, ''Hana to Yume''. Her first submission to this magazine won a prize called the "Top Prize" (). The Heart Of Thomas
is a 1974 Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Moto Hagio. Originally serialized in '' Shūkan Shōjo Comic'', a weekly manga magazine publishing ''shōjo'' manga (manga aimed at young and adolescent women), the series follows the events at a German all-boys gymnasium following the suicide of student Thomas Werner. Rachel Thorn
Rachel Thorn (formerly Matt Thorn; born May 12, 1965) is a cultural anthropologist and an associate professor in the Department of Manga Production at Kyoto Seika University's Faculty of Manga in Japan. She is best known in North America for her work dealing with manga (Japanese comics for girls). She has appeared at multiple anime conventions, including Otakon 2004. She chose to translate manga into English after reading ''The Heart of Thomas'' by Moto Hagio in the mid-1980s. Otherworld Barbara
is a science fiction manga by Moto Hagio. It is set in a near-future Japan, and begins with a girl, Jyujo Aoba, who has been in a coma since she was nine years old, who was discovered next to her parents' bodies, with their hearts inside her stomach. To discover why she killed her parents, a specialist enters her coma dreams and finds that Jyujo is dreaming about and simultaneously creating the future. The series was serialised in Shogakukan's ''Flowers'' between September 2002 and August 2005 and is collected in 4 volumes. The series is licensed for release in the United States by Fantagraphics Books. In 2006, ''Otherworld Barbara'' won the Grand Prize of the 27th Nihon SF Taisho Award Development Hagio "wanted to do something about meat" when she created the story for ''Otherworld Barbara'', and felt that the story "turned out kind of gross".
