''A Cowboy Afraid of Horses'' is the fifth album by Lobo and his final album on Big Tree Records, released in 1975. The album, along with ''Just a Singer'', was reissued in 1997 by Rhino Records as a single issue under the said title. The album peaked at No. 151 on the US Top LPs chart, becoming his final album to chart to date. "Don't Tell Me Goodnight" peaked at No. 27 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, becoming his final Top 40 hit until 1979's "Where Were You When I Was Falling in Love". Lobo (musician)
Roland Kent LaVoie (born July 31, 1943), better known by his stage name Lobo (which is a Spanish word for wolf), is an American singer-songwriter who was successful in the 1970s, scoring several U.S. Top 10 hits including " Me and You and a Dog Named Boo", "I'd Love You to Want Me", and " Don't Expect Me to Be Your Friend". These three songs, along with " Where Were You When I Was Falling in Love", gave Lobo four chart toppers on the Easy Listening/Hot Adult Contemporary chart. Jerry Obern Scheff (born January 31, 1941) is an American bassist, best known for his work with Elvis Presley from 1969 to 1977 as a member of his TCB Band and on the Doors' '' L.A. Woman''. Biography Scheff grew up in Vallejo, California. After serving in the U.S. Navy he returned to California, ending up in Los Angeles as a session musician. The conga, also known as tumbadora, is a tall, narrow, single-headed drum from Cuba. Congas are staved like barrels and classified into three types: quinto (lead drum, highest), tres dos or tres golpes (middle), and tumba or salidor (lowest). Congas were originally used in Afro-Cuban music genres such as conga (hence their name) and rumba, where each drummer would play a single drum. Following numerous innovations in conga drumming and construction during the mid-20th century, as well as its internationalization, it became increasingly common for drummers to play two or three drums. Richard Bennett (born July 22, 1951) is an American guitarist and record producer. As a touring sideman, he performed with Neil Diamond for seventeen years and Mark Knopfler since 1994. As a session musician, he has worked with Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, Rodney Crowell, and Vince Gill. He has produced albums for Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Marty Stuart, and Kim Richey.
