''A Coliseum Complex Museum'' is the fifth studio album by the Canadian psychedelic rock band The Besnard Lakes, released on January 22, 2016 on Jagjaguwar. The album is the first to feature keyboardist Sheenah Ko and guitarist Robbie MacArthur, who both joined the band in 2014 to tour behind the band's previous album, '' Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO'' (2013). The album was preceded by the EP, ''Golden Lion'', which features two additional tracks recorded during the album's sessions. Writing and composition The album features shorter compositions than those on the band's previous two studio albums, '' Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO'' (2013) and '' The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night'' (2010). The Besnard Lakes
The Besnard Lakes ( ) are a Canadian indie rock band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Formed in 2003 by the husband and wife team of Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, the band also includes Kevin Laing (drums), Richard White (guitar), Sheenah Ko (keyboards) and Robbie MacArthur (guitar). Two of the band's six albums have been nominated for the Polaris Music Prize. History Early career (2003–2013) The band are currently a six-piece centered around the atmospheric songs of Lasek and Goreas, whose expansive sound draws from numerous aspects of rock 'n' roll history. The band's name comes from Besnard Lake in North-Central Saskatchewan. Breakglass Studios
Breakglass Studios is a Canadian analogue and digital recording studio established in 2005. Co-founded by producer Dave Smith and Jace Lasek, the studio space is located in the Le Plateau-Mont-Royal area of Montreal, Quebec. Since its inception, the studio has had a third partner in James Benjamin. Local and international bands have recorded there, such as The Besnard Lakes, Les Breastfeeders, Bionic, Holy Fuck, Islands, Patrick Watson, Stars, Sunset Rubdown, Human Human, Dead Messenger, The Unicorns, Voilà!, Wintersleep, Wolf Parade, Purity Ring, The Annoying, The Loodies and The World Provider.
