''A Call to Spy'' (also known as ''Liberté: A Call to Spy'') is a 2019 American spy drama film written and produced by Sarah Megan Thomas and directed by Lydia Dean Pilcher. The title is a stylistic variant of . The film is a heavily fictionalized historical drama inspired by the lives of three women who worked as British spies during World War II. In many important respects the plot deviates quite widely from actual events and from their real-life missions. It stars Sarah Megan Thomas, Radhika Apte and Stana Katic. ''A Call to Spy'' had its world premiere on June 21, 2019, at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and was released in the United States on October 2, 2020, in theaters and on video on demand. The film received mostly positive reviews. Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan, GC (1 January 1914 – 13 September 1944), also known as Nora Inayat-Khan and Nora Baker, was a British resistance agent in France in World War II who served in the Special Operations Executive (SOE). The purpose of SOE was to conduct espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance in countries occupied by the Axis powers, especially those occupied by Nazi Germany. SOE agents allied themselves with resistance groups and supplied them with weapons and equipment parachuted in from the United Kingdom.
