A Black And White World
''A Black and White World'' is a 2005 Australian short film. It is the story of a character in a black-and-white silent film, who transcends the medium and in doing so changes with it. Written and directed by Adam White (filmmaker), Adam White, the story pays homage to the era of film when silent pictures were being superseded by talkies. On a more simple level, it is a love story about the possibilities of change. The film was shot on Super16 in studios and locations in Melbourne during September and October 2004. Adam White (filmmaker)
Adam White (born 9 January 1976) is an Australian sportsman and filmmaker. Australian rules football career White played for Carlton Football Club, Carlton in the Australian Football League from 1997 to 2001. White is best remembered for his accidental collision with an umpire during a match, a collision that resulted in White knocking himself out. Film career After retiring from professional football due to injury (unrelated to the umpire incident), White launched a new career as an independent filmmaker. Flickerfest
Flickerfest is an international short film festival held annually in January at Bondi Beach, Sydney. It is an Academy and BAFTA recognised short film festival for both international and Australian film makers. History The festival originated as a small, local festival at Balmain High School in 1991. It has premiered an increasingly broader range of international short films since its establishment. In 2003, Flickerfest was recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science to qualify for Best Animation and Best Short Film categories of the Academy Awards. In 2010, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) recognised that if a film from the UK won a category at Flickerfest, the film then became eligible for a BAFTA nomination. ''Skithouse'' (styled ''skitHOUSE'') was an Australian sketch comedy television series that ran on Network Ten from 9 February 2003 to 28 July 2004. The series was produced by Roving Enterprises. The Cardiff Film Festival (''Gŵyl Ffilm Caerdydd'' in Welsh) was an annual film festival that took place in Cardiff, Wales. It had previously been called the Cardiff Screen Festival. Background Commencing in 1989, it was originally held annually in Aberystwyth as the ''National film festival for Wales'', before being moved to Cardiff due to popularity. The festival offered the chance to meet the directors of many of the films in a more approachable fashion, as the customers and the movie-makers could mingle in a relaxed atmosphere. The 2005 film festival was held from November 9 to November 19, and was based in Chapter Arts Centre, with extra films being shown in a nearby Cineworld cinema complex.
