A revue is a type of multi-act popular theatrical entertainment that combines music, dance, and sketches. The revue has its roots in 19th century popular entertainment and melodrama but grew into a substantial cultural presence of its own during its golden years from 1916 to 1932. Though most famous for their visual spectacle, revues frequently satirized contemporary figures, news or literature. Similar to the related subforms of operetta and musical theatre, the revue art form brings together music, dance and sketches to create a compelling show. Sybil Grove was an English actress. She was born Sybil Marian Westmacott on 4 October 1891 in Teddington, Middlesex, and was also known as Sybil Wingrove. With reddish brown hair and standing 5'8", she trained at RADA and her stage debut was in 1927. Jacqueline Gadsden (August 3, 1900 – August 10, 1986) was an American film actress during the silent era. A native of Southern California, she was born in Lompoc to Gerald F. and Jessie H. (Salter) Gadsden and is probably best known to modern audiences as the wealthy, haughty other woman in the 1927 Clara Bow vehicle '' It''. She married William Harry Dale (1900–1975) about 1924. She portrayed Lon Chaney's character's wife in Tod Browning's '' West of Zanzibar'' in 1928. In a number of films she was billed as Jacqueline Gadsdon and made two films under the name Jane Daly in 1929, her final year in film. She died in the San Diego County city of San Marcos a week after her 86th birthday. Lucy Beaumont (born Lucy Emily Pinkstone; 18 May 1869 – 24 April 1937) was an English actress of the stage and screen from Bristol. Biography On Broadway, Beaumont played Lady Emily Lyons in '' The Bishop Misbehaves'' (1935) and Mrs. Barwick in ''Berkeley Square'' (1925). A 1932 revival of ''Berkeley Square'', featuring Beaumont, Miriam Seegar, George Baxter and Henry Mowbray, was staged in San Francisco by Arthur Greville Collins.
