Roscoe Arbuckle
Roscoe Conkling "Fatty" Arbuckle (; March 24, 1887 – June 29, 1933) was an American silent film actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter. He started at the Selig Polyscope Company and eventually moved to Keystone Studios, where he worked with Mabel Normand and Harold Lloyd as well as with his nephew, Al St. John. He also mentored Charlie Chaplin, Monty Banks and Bob Hope, and brought vaudeville star Buster Keaton into the movie business. Arbuckle was one of the most popular silent stars of the 1910s and one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, signing a contract in 1920 with Paramount Pictures for $14,000 (). Arbuckle was the defendant in three widely publicized trials between November 1921 and April 1922 for the rape and manslaughter of actress Virginia Rappe. Gordon S. Griffith (July 4, 1907 – October 12, 1958) was an American assistant director, film producer, and one of the first child actors in the American movie industry. Griffith worked in the film industry for five decades, acting in over 60 films, and surviving the transition from silent films to talkies—films with sound. During his acting career, he worked with Charlie Chaplin, and was the first actor to portray Tarzan on film. Ted Edwards (9 May 1884 – 29 September 1945) was an England-born American film actor of the silent era. Ted Edwards appeared in two of Charlie Chaplin's comedy shorts He was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, as Maurice Edward Burrell. He was an actor, known for ''Maniac'', ''Fires of Youth'' (1924) and ''Polygamy'' (1936). He died on September 29, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Maurice was one of nine children born to John Willian Burrell and his wife Sarah Ann Burrell. John Burrell was a draper with a shop at 59 Snig Hill, Sheffield. In later life the family lived at 80 Kendal Road in Hillsborough, Sheffield. Hank Mann (born David William Lieberman, May 28, 1887 – November 25, 1971) was a Russian Empire-born and American comedian and silent screen star who was a member of the Keystone Cops. According to fellow actor and original member of the ensemble Edgar Kennedy, Mann was the originator of the idea for the Keystone Cops.
