A Bad Brains Reunion Live From Maritime Hall
''A Bad Brains Reunion Live at Maritime Hall'' is the third live album from hardcore punk and reggae pioneers Bad Brains. It marks the reunion of the band after a four-year breakup. At the time, the band were unable to use the name "Bad Brains" as they were embattled in legal turmoil with their prior management company. For over three years, the band had to tour under the name "Soul Brains" even though the original lineup of Bad Brains was intact. The album came under sharp criticism upon its release due to the lazy singing style of the usually manic and energetic H.R., who was accused of mailing in his performance at this reunion concert recorded live in 1999 at the Maritime Hall theater in San Francisco. Bad Brains
Bad Brains are an American rock band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1976. Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. God Of Love (album)
''God of Love'' is the sixth studio album by the American musical group Bad Brains. It is the band's first album since ''I Against I'', released in 1986, with its original lineup. It was released in 1995 on Maverick Records. The release contains their usual mix of hardcore punk/metal and reggae, though with more the latter than any other Bad Brains album. The heavy-rock oriented title track received video airplay on MTV. Backed by huge promotion from the label and an opening slot on the Beastie Boys' ''Ill Communication'' tour, the band fell apart as the volatile singer, H.R., was arrested several times; he was involved in beating a skinhead, a security guard, and the band's manager in separate incidents during the tour. I And I Survived
''I & I Survived'' is the seventh full-length studio album by hardcore punk band Bad Brains. This album inverts the emphasis of Bad Brains' previous albums, which stress their punk/metal/hard rock side alongside touches of reggae. In contrast, ''I & I Survived'' is a mostly instrumental offering emphasizing reggae, ska, and dub elements (including a horn section on several songs) with only occasional forays into hard rock and punk music. The voice of band vocalist H.R. does appear on the album, albeit in sampled form from previous albums. The album includes new songs alongside completely revamped remakes of a few Bad Brains classics such as 1983's "How Low Can a Punk Get?", two versions of the ''Quickness'' classic "Gene Machine", and a dancehall reggae version of the usually mellow "I & I Survive". The Maritime Hall is a historic 3,000-capacity Auditorium, concert hall in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood that operated from 1995 through 2001 as a popular music venue and nightclub. It was located at 450 Harrison Street (at First Street) at the Sailors Union of the Pacific building. "Pay to Cum" (titled "Pay to Cum!" on the record cover) is the debut single by Washington, D.C.-based hardcore punk band Bad Brains. It was released in June 1980 on Bad Brain Records. The single was recorded in New York City by Jimi Quidd at his Dots Studios. The A-side to the original single was "Pay to Cum", while the flipside was "Stay Close to Me", identified as Side 1. Darryl Jenifer (born October 22, 1960) is an American musician, widely known as the bassist for the hardcore punk band Bad Brains and for the rap-rock group The White Mandingos.
