Panadura
Panadura ( si, පානදුර, translit=Pānadura; ta, பாணந்துறை, translit=Pāṇantuṟai) is a city in Kalutara District, Western Province in Sri Lanka. It is located approximately south of Colombo and is surrounded on all sides by water; the Indian Ocean, the Bolgoda Lake and river. Panadura is famed as the location of important events in the Buddhist revival movement of Sri Lanka. Panadura Debate The Panadura Debate, held in 1873, was the climax of the first phase of the Buddhist revivalist movement which began with the establishment of the Society for the Propagation of Buddhism at Kotahena and the establishment of the Lankopakara Press in Galle. The two key persons in the Panadura Debate were Migettuwatte Gunananda Thera and Father David de Silva and the two key institutions were the Rankoth Viharaya and the Methodist Church of Panadura. Ratnapura
Ratnapura (; ) ("City of Gems" in Sinhala and Tamil) is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of Sabaragamuwa Province, as well as the Ratnapura District, and is a traditional centre for the Sri Lankan gem trade. It is located on the Kalu Ganga (Black River) in south-central Sri Lanka, some southeast of the country's capital, Colombo. Ratnapura is also spelled as Rathnapura. The name 'Ratnapura' is a Sanskrit word meaning "city of gems", from the Sanskrit words ''pura'' (town) and ''ratna'' (gemstone). Over 2000 years ago, when the first Buddhist monks arrived here from the north eastern provinces of India namely Bodh-Gaya, Varanasi and Pataliputra, they not only brought with them the Buddhist religion, but since their teachings were mainly in Sanskrit and Pali they also influenced the local language. Horana
Horana ( si, හොරණ, , ta, ஹொரணை) is a town in Kalutara District, in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. It is on the A8 highway between Panadura and Ratnapura, away from Ratnapura and away from Panadura. Horana is connected with Colombo via B84 Colombo - Horana road, away from Colombo The town is administered by an Urban Council. Horana is the home town of former Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ratnasiri Wickremanayake. Etymology The name, Horana, refers to the Hora tree, which there were significant numbers in this area in the past. Ingiriya
Ingiriya ( Sinhala: ඉංගිරිය; Tamil: இங்கிரிய) is a city in Kalutara District of Western Province, Sri Lanka, near the border with Sabaragamuwa Province. The city is the meeting point of the Rathnapura–Panadura, Ingiriya–Padukka and Ingiriya–Bulathsinhala roads. The city has an ethnic makeup of 89.7% Sinhalese and 10.1% Tamils, with less than 1% from other ethnicity. The 2001 census recorded a population of 45,726, rising to 56,074 in 2017. Location Ingiriya can be accessed via the A8 ( Rathnapura–Panadura) highway (33 km from Panadura, 35.8 km from Rathnapura), by the Padukka–Ingiriya Road (16.80 km from Padukka, 18.20 km from Meepe) or by the Egaloya–Ingiriya Road (11 km from Egaloya).
