AZAL PFC
Shuvalan FK ( az, Şüvəlan Futbol Klubu, ) is an Azerbaijani football club based in Şüvəlan, Baku. The club was renamed four times in its short history becoming Olimpik Baku, Olimpik-Shuvalan Baku, AZAL and Shuvalan. UEFA is still recognizing the club as Olimpik-Shuvalan at European competitions. The club is also a member of the European Club Association, an organization that replaced the previous G-14 which consists of major football clubs in Europe. History Early years (1996–2006) The club were established in 1996 as a futsal club under the name of ''AMMK''. It participated in national futsal league from the season 1996–97 until 2003–04. AMMK also represented Azerbaijan in UEFA Futsal Cup 2003/04 season. AMMK became professional football team in 2004 and joined the Azerbaijan First Division. AZAL Arena
AZAL Arena is a football stadium in Shuvelan settlement of Baku, Azerbaijan. It was the home stadium of Shuvalan FK. The stadium holds 3,500 people and opened in 2011. Background The first game ever played at AZAL Arena was AZAL PFC - FK Baku (1:0), April 10, 2011. Belarusian striker Gennady Bliznyuk scored a first goal at the stadium. On 17 February 2011, UEFA approved this stadium to be used for international football matches and gave 2 stars for stadium category. Future The club plans to construct another tribune and increase the capacity to 6000 in the coming years. Events The stadium was used as a training ground during 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Marko Mitrović (footballer, Born 1978)
Marko Mitrović (Serbian Cyrillic: Марко Митровић; born 8 July 1978) is a Serbian football coach. A versatile midfielder, he could operate as a holding midfielder or a box to box player and spent most of his professional career in Serbia where he represented eight clubs. Other than in his own country, Mitrović also played professionally in Hungary, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. He is the head coach of the United States U19 national team. Playing career Club Mitrović was a member of the Red Star Belgrade academy for several years, before signing his first professional contract with the club. The Azerbaijan Cup is a major association football competition in Azerbaijan. In its original form, it started in 1936, when Azerbaijan was a republic of the Soviet Union and it was not disputed by Azerbaijani teams in the Soviet league pyramid. Compared to cups in many other countries, Azerbaijan attracts considerably less public interest and even the cup final is rarely sold out. Consequently, the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan has experimented with the format in order to raise the profile of the cup. Format The clubs from Azerbaijan First Division (2nd tier) play in the First Round. The winners of that round advance to the Second Round, where the clubs from Azerbaijan Premier League (1st tier) join. For the quarterfinals and the semifinals, the round-robin system is used. The 2008–09 UEFA Cup was the 38th season of the UEFA Cup football tournament. The final was played at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, home ground of Fenerbahçe, in Istanbul on 20 May 2009.
