Association sportive de Pontoise-Cergy Tennis de table (commonly abbreviated AS Pontoise-Cergy TT or simply ASPCTT) is a table tennis club based in Pontoise, France. One of the top clubs in the country, it finished runner-up in the French top division Pro A three times (2009, 2010, 2013) and also reached the final of the European Champions League, the premier continental competition in Europe in 2014. Pontoise () is a commune in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the centre of Paris, in the " new town" of Cergy-Pontoise. Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. European Champions League (table Tennis)
European Champions League (ECL) is the seasonal table tennis competition for the highest ranked European club teams and is regarded as the most important international club competition in Europe. It is organised by the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) and replaced the European Club Cup of Champions (ECCC), the previous prominent club competition, since the 1998/99 season. Originally there was only a men's competition; a women's competition was introduced in the 2005/06 season. The competition starts in September and the champions are usually determined in May in recent years. German club Borussia Düsseldorf is the most successful club in the history of the men's competition, having won the competition seven times and being the runners-up three times, while Belgian club La Villette Charleroi and Russian club Fakel Gazprom both have won five titles. ETTU Cup
The ETTU Cup is the second most important continental tournament for clubs in European table tennis, after the European Champions League. The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) has organized this cup since the 1964-65 season for men teams, and also for women teams a year later. Name The competition was held in the 1964/65 season for the first time for men and a year later for ladies. At that time this tournament was called the European Fair Cities Cup. In 1984 it was renamed ETTU Nancy Evans Cup after the wife of then ITTF President Roy Evans. In 2005, the cup was renamed to the current name, the "ETTU Cup", while "Nancy Evans Cup" became the name of the trophy and is awarded to the winner. Marcos André Sousa da Silva Freitas (born 8 April 1988) is a Portuguese table tennis player who has won European Championships in singles, doubles, and team events. He participated at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing where he got knocked out in the Round of 64. In the same year he won the bronze medal in the men's doubles at the European Championship with Tiago Apolónia. Three years later at the 2011 Table Tennis European Championships he went on to win the gold medal with his doubles partner Andrej Gaćina. Kristian Karlsson
Kristian Gunnar Karlsson (; born 6 August 1991) is a Swedish professional table tennis player. Career Born in Trollhättan, Västra Götaland, Karlsson started to play table tennis in his hometown club at the age of 8. He remained in Trollhättan until he was 16, subsequently he moved away from home to go to high school. During his high school years Karlsson had 10 training sessions a week. In 2011 he signed to Halmstad BTK and began to rose through the ranks quickly. Ranked outside the top 400 in October 2010, Karlsson finished 2011 in the 233rd position, and at the end of 2012 he ranked 129. The year 2012 also marked his first senior success, winning the silver medal at the 2012 Table Tennis European Championships in men's doubles.
