AS Mutzig
Association Sportive de Mutzig, commonly known as AS Mutzig, is an association football club based in the commune of Mutzig, in the Bas-Rhin department of eastern France. Founded in 1930 as FC Mutzig, the club currently plays in the Excellence de Bas-Rhin at the seventh level of French football, although for 13 years between 1963 and 1976 they competed in the third tier. AS Mutzig plays at the Stade Roger Leissner, named in honour of the club president during their accession to the Championnat de France amateur in the early 1960s. Arsène Wenger, the former manager of English Premier League club Arsenal, started his senior playing career at Mutzig after being signed by then manager Max Hild, who went on to manage RC Strasbourg. Jacky Duguépéroux (born 2 January 1948) is a French association football, football manager and former player. He has been manager of RC Strasbourg Alsace, RC Strasbourg, for whom he also played, on three occasions. Between his final two terms, he managed Tunisian side Espérance Sportive de Tunis, Espérance. Paco Mateo
Francisco Mateo (15 May 1917 - 21 July 1979) was a Spanish-French football defender who played as a professional for Valencia, Bordeaux and Strasbourg. He also was a coach and manager for RC Strasbourg. Bio Mateo was born in Algeciras. He started his career as a promising youngster playing for a Spanish club in Tétouan, Morocco and quickly attracted the attention of the biggest clubs in the Spanish mainland, joining Sevilla FC and then FC Barcelona before the outbreak of the Spanish civil war. Mateo chose the Republican side, spending most of the war in Valencia. Towards the end of the conflict, he was imprisoned due to his political leanings but was released on the insistence of the Girondins de Bordeaux and was therefore able to emigrate to France shortly before the outbreak of World War II. French Division 3 (1971–1993)
The French Division 3 was the third tier in the French football pyramid, after the Division 1 and Division 2, from 1971 to 1993. Although it was succeeded by the Championnat National 2, the Championnat National became the new third division. In contrast to the former CFA, the D3 permitted the best amateur clubs to be promoted to the Division 2. The Championnat de France Amateur, also known as the Challenge Jules‒Rimet, was the highest tier of amateur football in France from 1935 to 1971. It was organized by the French Football Federation. History The competition was created in 1932, three years after the formation of the professional national championship now known as the Ligue 1. The aim of the tournament was to crown the best amateur football team in France. The champion received a cup from the president of the French Football Federation, Jules Rimet, where the nickname of the competition Challenge Jules‒Rimet came from. Paul Frantz (10 March 1927 – 30 September 2016) was a French football player and manager. Career A physical education teacher, he never played as a professional, a fact that did not prevent him from earning his 3rd level manager degree – necessary to coach pro teams in France – as valedictorian in 1958.
