ASC Linguère is a Senegalese football club based in Saint-Louis. It plays in the second division in Senegalese football. Its home stadium is Stade de Linguère. Linguère is joint eighth in the number of major honours won in Senegal (five) with ASC Port Autonome of Dakar, Casa Sports of Ziguinchor and Djambars FC. History ASC Linguère was founded on 14 September 1969 after the merger of two clubs, Espoir de Saint-Louis and AS Saint-Louisienne. Before the merger, Espoir de Saint-Louis won its only title under French rule in 1957. After independence, the club won its only cup title in 1961. AS Saint-Louisienne won its only cup title five years later in 1966. Stade de Linguère, better known as Stade Mawade Wade is a multi-use stadium in Saint-Louis, Senegal. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as a home ground of ASC Linguère of the Senegal Premier League. It is also home to another club known as Saint-Louis FC The stadium holds 8,000 spectators. Seven continental matches took place at the stadium. The first being the 1989 CAF Winners' Cup, then the 1991 edition took place there, the 1997 CAF Cup took place in the stadium, where Linguère lost the only match at the continentals at home. Demba Diop Stadium Crush
The Demba Diop stadium crush occurred on 15 June 2017 at the Demba Diop stadium in Dakar, Senegal. During the extra time of the Senegalese football league final match, supporters from the Ouakam F.C. team threw projectiles at the supporters of the opposing team, Stade de Mbour, causing them to leave their seats ''en masse''. This fracas between the fans resulted in a wall collapsing and the police firing tear gas into the stands. A stampede ensued, leaving eight dead and 60 injured. Matar Ba, the Senegalese sports minister, confirmed that one of the dead was a child and promised "strong measures" to ensure such incidents would not be repeated. Stade Malien is a Malian professional football and sports club based in Bamako. One of the two dominant clubs of Malian football, their eastern Bamako training grounds host other sports as well, including a successful basketball club.
