The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is a trade association representing the Australian recording industry which was established in the 1970s by six major record companies, EMI, Festival, CBS, RCA, WEA and Universal replacing the Association of Australian Record Manufacturers (AARM) which was formed in 1956. Dubrovniks
The Dubrovniks were an Australian rock band which formed in August 1986 as The Adorable Ones. Early in 1987 they changed their name to The Dubrovniks in acknowledgement to the birthplace of two founding members, Roddy Radalj, and Boris Sujdovic. Dubrovnik is a town in Croatia. Both Radalj and fellow founder James Baker had previously founded Hoodoo Gurus (as Le Hoodoo Gurus) in 1981. All three had earlier associations in the Perth punk scene of the late 1970s. A roar is a type of animal vocalization that is deep and resonating. Many mammals have evolved to produce roars and other roar-like vocals for purposes such as long-distance communication and intimidation. These include various species of big cats, bears, pinnipeds, bovids, deer, elephants and simians. The anatomical basis for the ability to roar often involves modifications to the larynx and hyoid bone and enlarged internal air spaces for low-frequency vocal resonation. Joe Cool (song)
"Joe Cool" is the second single by Australian rock band Girl Monstar. Both songs from the single were included as bonus tracks on the band's 1992 debut album, ''Monstereo Delicio''. Both songs were produced, arranged and engineered by Kevin Shirley ( Iron Maiden, Journey, Rush, Led Zeppelin). This was also the debut recording of Anne McCue who wrote and sung lead vocals on the B-side track "Egomaniac". The single was released on blue 7" vinyl. The single was released in June 1990 and received heavy rotation on national broadcaster, Triple J, ultimately reaching No. 1 on Australia's independent charts. In late 1990 Girl Monstar performed the song "Joe Cool" on the nationally broadcast '' Countdown Revolution''. Blue Ruin were an Australian blues rock band, which started as Scrap Museum in 1984. Their third studio album, ''I'm Gonna Smile'' (December 1990), was nominated for Best Independent Release at the ARIA Music Awards of 1991.
