APRA Music Awards Of 1998
The Australasian Performing Right Association Awards of 1998 (generally known as APRA Awards (Australia), APRA Awards) are a series of awards held in May 1998. The APRA Music Awards were presented by Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS). The awards resumed in 1998 after a hiatus in 1997. Only one classical music award was available in 1998: Most Performed Contemporary Classical Composition. APRA provided awards for "Best Television Theme", and "Best Film Score" in 1998. APRA and AMCOS also sponsored the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC), which provided their own awards ceremony, from 1996 to 2000, with categories for film and TV composers. Pinky Beecroft
Matt Ford, known professionally as Pinky Beecroft, is an Australian singer-songwriter, performer and screenwriter. From 1997 to 2005 he was the lead singer and keyboardist for alternative rockers, Machine Gun Fellatio. His group Pinky Beecroft and the White Russians released an album, ''Somethin' Somewhere Better'', in August 2008. As a songwriter he co-wrote, "No Aphrodisiac" (December 1997), with bandmate Chit Chat Von Loopin Stab and The Whitlams' Tim Freedman. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1998 it won Song of the Year for The Whitlams. Music He was the lead singer and songwriter of Australian band Machine Gun Fellatio. He quit the band in 2005, at which point the group split up. Peter Charles Combe OAM (; born 20 October 1948) is an Australian children's entertainer and musician. At the ARIA Music Awards he has won three ARIA Awards for Best Children's Album, for ''Toffee Apple'' (1988), '' Newspaper Mama'' (1989) and ''The Absolutely Very Best of Peter Combe (So Far) Recorded in Concert'' (1992) and three additional nominations (''Chopsticks'' (1990), ''Little Groover'' (1996) and ''Live It Up'' (2017)). The Flowerpot Gang
The Flower Pot Gang were an Australian children's entertainment act formed in 1996 by Phillip 'Phil' Barton on guitar and vocals, Rebecca 'Becki' Henry on vocals and Benjamin 'Ben' O'Hara on drums and vocals. Henry left in 1997, replaced by Kristy Gentz. Their albums ''Happy Little Flower Pots'' (1997) and ''Flower Pot Gang'' (1999) were nominated for the ARIA Award for Best Children's Album in 1998 and 2000, respectively. It was originally released in Australia on 27 May 1996 as the lead single from their eponymous debut album, ''Savage Garden (Savage Garden album), Savage Garden'' (1997). Human Nature are an Australian pop vocal group, which formed in 1989, as a quartet featuring Toby Allen, Phil Burton and brothers, Andrew and Mike Tierney. Originally they were established as a doo-wop group, called the 4 Trax, when the members were schoolmates. Michael Gudinski
Michael Solomon Gudinski AM (22 August 1952 – 2 March 2021) was an Australian record executive and promoter who was a leading figure in the Australian music industry. Born and raised in Melbourne to Jewish Russian immigrants, Gudinski formed the highly successful Australian record company Mushroom Records in 1972 through which he signed several generations of Australian musicians and performers ranging from MacKenzie Theory, the Skyhooks, The Choirboys, Kylie Minogue, and New Zealand's Split Enz to newer artists such as Eskimo Joe, Evermore and others.
