APRA Music Awards Of 2001
The APRA Music Awards of 2001 were a group of awards given on 28 May 2001, as one in the series of APRA Awards. These are presented annually by Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS). Only one classical music award was available in 2001: Most Performed Contemporary Classical Composition. APRA and Australian Music Centre (AMC) established the Classical Music Awards in July of the following year. APRA provided awards for "Best Television Theme", and "Best Film Score" in 2001. These were expanded to The Screen Music Awards presented by APRA and Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) in November 2002. Also at the 2001 awards ceremony, APRA celebrated its 75th anniversary by presenting the "ten best and most significant Australian songs of the past 75 years", which together with 20 previously announced songs comprise APRA's Top 30 Australian songs of all time. John Collins (Australian Musician)
John Collins (born 27 April 1970) is the mainstay bass guitarist for Australian rock band Powderfinger since 1989. Note: n-lineversion established at White Room Electronic Publishing Pty Ltd in 2007 and was expanded from the 2002 edition. He is one of the founding members of the band, along with guitarist Ian Haug, forming at their high school, Brisbane Grammar School, as a three-piece. Powderfinger has released seven studio albums, a greatest-hits album, and a double CD live album. After they released their first best-of album, '' Fingerprints'', in 2004, they decided to take a break. During the hiatus, Collins played with fellow Powderfinger member Darren Middleton in his new band Drag on a number of occasions as well as performing with Ian Haug and Steven Bishop in The Predators. Daniel Jones (born 22 July 1973) is an English-born Australian musician, songwriter, record producer and real estate agent. He was a member of the Australian pop duo Savage Garden, whose international hit singles included " I Want You", " To the Moon and Back", "Truly Madly Deeply", "I Knew I Loved You", and " Crash and Burn". "Affirmation" is a song by Savage Garden, released as the third single from their second studio album of the same name (1999). It peaked at number 16 in Australia and number eight on the UK Singles Chart. Background The lyrics are a series of statements each starting with "I believe", for instance: "I believe in Karma, what you give is what you get returned" and "I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned". Charles Fisher (producer)
Charles Fisher is an Australian record producer, often referred to as "The Song Doctor." He is widely known as the producer of Savage Garden's eponymous album which yielded 10 ARIAs (including Producer of the Year, Engineer of the Year and a Special Achievement Award for himself) in 1997. " I Want You", a single from the aforementioned album also won a Channel V award in India.
