APPG On Agriculture And Food For Development
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Agriculture and Food for Development is a cross-party group in the UK Parliament, co-chaired by Heidi Alexander, a Labour Member of Parliament and Lord Cameron of Dillington, a cross-bench Peer. The APPG is composed of over 70 MPs and Peers from across the political spectrum and is based in London. Heidi Alexander
Heidi Alexander (born 17 April 1975) is a British politician who served as Deputy Mayor of London for Transport from 2018 to 2021. A member of the Labour Party, she was Member of Parliament (MP) for Lewisham East from 2010 to 2018. Alexander served as Shadow Secretary of State for Health from 2015 to 2016. Early life and career Alexander was born in Swindon, Wiltshire to Malcolm, an electrician, and Elaine Alexander (). She was educated at Churchfields Comprehensive School and New College Sixth Form. Ewen James Hanning Cameron, Baron Cameron of Dillington DL, (born 24 November 1949) is a landowner and life peer who sits as a crossbench member of the House of Lords. Lord Cameron is one of five siblings and the second but elder surviving son of Major Allan Cameron, himself second son of Colonel Sir Donald Walter Cameron of Lochiel, K.T., 25th Lochiel. Definitions vary widely for what constitutes a smallholder or small-scale farm, including factors such as size, food production technique or technology, involvement of family in labor and economic impact. Sir Alan James Carter Duncan (born 31 March 1957) is a British former Conservative Party politician who served as Minister of State for International Development from 2010 to 2014 and as Minister of State for Europe and the Americas from 2016 to 2019. Harriet Lamb CBE (born 3 June 1961) is the chief executive officer of Ashden, an organisation that supports and promotes sustainable energy enterprises from around the world. An all-party parliamentary group (APPG) is a grouping in the Parliament of the United Kingdom that is composed of members of parliament from all political parties, but have no official status within Parliament. Description and functions All-party parliamentary groups are informal cross-party groups of members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords and have no official status within Parliament. APPGs generally have officers drawn from the major political parties from both houses. APPG members meet to discuss a particular issue of concern and explore relevant issues relating to their topic.
