The All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organization (APMSO; ) is a Pakistani student organization notable for creating a political party: the Mohajir Quami Movement, now called the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – London#History, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). APMSO was founded by Altaf Hussain (Pakistani politician), Altaf Hussain along with other students including Azeem Ahmed Tariq, Imran Farooq, Dr. Imran Farooq on Sunday, 11 June 1978 at Karachi University. Hussain also served as a 1st Chairman of organization while Azeem Ahmed Tariq served as 1st General Secretary of the organization. Muttahida Qaumi Movement – London
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) ( ur, , ), previously known as Muhajir Qaumi Movement, is a secular political party in Pakistan that was founded by Altaf Hussain in 1984. Currently the party is split between 2 main factions. MQM-London faction is controlled by Altaf Hussain from London, while MQM-Pakistan is run by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui based in Pakistan. Its electoral symbol was a kite. It was founded as a student organization, All Pakistan Muhajir Student Organization (APMSO), in 1978 by Altaf Hussain. APMSO gave birth to the Muhajir Qaumi Movement in 1984. In 1997, the MQM removed the term Muhajir (that denotes the party roots among the country's Urdu-speaking community) from its name and replaced it with ''Muttahida'' ("United"). Azeem Ahmed Tariq
Azeem Ahmed Tariq () (died 1 May 1993) was a Pakistani politician who was the Chairman and one of the founding members of MQM (Muhajir Qaumi Movement) and its student wing APMSO (All Pakistan Muttahidda Students Organization). The party was formed to fight for the rights of the Mohajir people in Sindh, who were immigrants from India India, officially the Republic of India (Hindi: ), is a country in South Asia. The Muhajir people (also spelled Mahajir and Mohajir) ( ur, , ) are Muslim immigrants of various ethnic groups and regional origins, and their descendants, who migrated from various regions of India after the Partition of India to settle in the newly independent state of Dominion of Pakistan, Pakistan.
