Paracetamol
Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen, is a medication used to treat fever and mild to moderate pain. Common brand names include Tylenol and Panadol. At a standard dose, paracetamol only slightly decreases body temperature; it is inferior to ibuprofen in that respect, and the benefits of its use for fever are unclear. Paracetamol may relieve pain in acute mild migraine but only slightly in episodic tension headache. However, the aspirin/paracetamol/caffeine combination helps with both conditions where the pain is mild and is recommended as a first-line treatment for them. Paracetamol is effective for post-surgical pain, but it is inferior to ibuprofen. The paracetamol/ibuprofen combination provides further increase in potency and is superior to either drug alone. The pain relief paracetamol provides in osteoarthritis is small and clinically insignificant. Automatic Positive Airway Pressure
Positive airway pressure (PAP) is a mode of respiratory ventilation used in the treatment of sleep apnea. PAP ventilation is also commonly used for those who are critically ill in hospital with respiratory failure, in newborn infants (neonates), and for the prevention and treatment of atelectasis in patients with difficulty taking deep breaths. In these patients, PAP ventilation can prevent the need for tracheal intubation, or allow earlier extubation. Sometimes patients with neuromuscular diseases use this variety of ventilation as well. CPAP is an acronym for "continuous positive airway pressure", which was developed by Dr. George Gregory and colleagues in the neonatal intensive care unit at the University of California, San Francisco. A variation of the PAP system was developed by Professor Colin Sullivan at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia, in 1981. Sleep apnea, also spelled sleep apnoea, is a sleep disorder in which pauses in breathing or periods of shallow breathing during sleep occur more often than normal. Each pause can last for a few seconds to a few minutes and they happen many times a night. In the most common form, this follows loud snoring. There may be a choking or snorting sound as breathing resumes. Because the disorder disrupts normal sleep, those affected may experience sleepiness or feel tired during the day. In children, it may cause hyperactivity or problems in school. Sleep apnea may be either obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), in which breathing is interrupted by a blockage of air flow, central sleep apnea (CSA), in which regular unconscious breath simply stops, or a combination of the two. Karmni Grima
Karmni Grima (2 February 1838 – 25 May 1922) was a Maltese peasant whose mystical religious experience led to the constructions and services as an apostle of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu. Biography Karmni Grima was born in the village of Għarb in Gozo, the sister island of Malta. Her parents, Thomas and Antonia (née Apap), were poor labourers who worked in the fields located on the nearby hills of Ghammar. Every day, after hearing Mass (liturgy) in a small chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Karmni would go to work in the fields. On the 22 June 1883 while, as usual, she was passing in front of the small chapel, she heard a mysterious voice calling her: "Come, ... come today. For a whole year, you will not be able to return". Gilles Apap
Gilles Apap (born 21 May 1963) is a French classical violinist. Born in Béjaïa, Algeria, he was raised in Nice, France. In 1985 he won first prize in the contemporary music category at the Yehudi Menuhin Competition. He served as concertmaster with the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra for 10 years, but has since focused on his career as a soloist with orchestras around the world. A virtuosic violinist, Gilles is also known for his interpretations of traditional music from Eastern Europe to America, such as gypsy, Irish, swing or bluegrass. He recorded three CDs in the 1990s with Sony Classical Records, then formed his own company, ''Apapaziz Productions''. Since 1999, Apapaziz has recorded eight Gilles Apap CDs. Ferdinando Apap (born 29 July 1992) is a Maltese international footballer who plays for Hibernians, as a defender. William Apap
William Apap (26 June 1918 – 3 February 1970) was a Maltese artist. He was born in Valletta, Malta, on 26 June 1918. He was the youngest member of a family that included the sculptor Vincent Apap and musician Joseph Apap. His first work dates back to 1933 in a book published about Maltese folklore by Professor Arnaldo Fabriani. In the same year he joined the School of Art in Valletta where he received his training in Art under the guidance of his brother Vincent, who was then an art teacher, and by the two brothers, Robert Caruana Dingli, Robert and Edward Caruana Dingli (artist), Edward Caruana Dingli. Apap managed to get a painter's scholarship from the School of Art in 1937 at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, where he eventually spent most of his life.
