Ancient Order Of Hibernians
The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH; ) is an Irish Catholic fraternal organization. Members must be male, Catholic, and either born in Ireland or of Irish descent. Its largest membership is now in the United States, where it was founded in New York City in 1836, however, a reference to its existence as early as 1819 was found in a letter written from a Samuel Castwell to the eventual 7th President of the United States, Andrew Jackson. In the letter, Jackson had been nominated for membership into Castwell's Hibernian Society. The letter was dated May 26, 1819. The name was adopted by groups of Irish immigrants in the United States, its purpose to act as guards to shield Catholic churches from anti-Catholic forces in the mid-19th century, and to assist Irish Catholic immigrants, especially those who faced discrimination or harsh coal mining working conditions. Ambassadors Of Harmony
The Ambassadors of Harmony (''AOH'') is a 120+ member men's barbershop chorus, based in St. Charles, Missouri. The chorus won International Championship gold medals in 2004, 2009, and 2012 – each time singing two arrangements by David Wright, under the direction of Dr. Jim Henry – and then again in 2016, under the co-direction of Jonny Moroni and Dr. Henry. Their 2009 victory broke a nearly three-decade winning streak by the Vocal Majority.Winning choruses are required to sit out of competition for two years. The Vocal Majority did not compete in 2004. Noted for its crisp choreography and its broad demographics, the chorus continues to expand its reputation as a premier arts organization while expanding audience engagement. Their Christmas shows are among the most popular holiday concerts in St. Louis, averaging over 7,000 patrons per year, while their youth programs continue to expand and equip young singers in substantive ways. Lima Allen County Airport
Lima Allen County Airport is six miles southeast of Lima, in Allen County, Ohio. It is owned by the Allen County Regional Airport Authority. History The airport is near the corner of Hanthorn Road and SR 117 east of Lima. It moved to this site in 1962; until then, the airport was a few miles northwest of Lima near the village of Elida. Airline flights (Lake Central DC-3s) started at the old airport in 1953-54; successors Allegheny Airlines and Allegheny Commuter continued at the new airport until the early 1970s. Northern Airlines provided airline service to Lima in the late 1960s. A total of six weekday departures (fewer on weekends) served nonstop service to Dayton, Findlay, & St. Marys OH. In 1983/1984, Trans Midwest Airlines flew an average of 7 daily flights from Lima using Piper Navajo equipment.
