ANZ Championship (golf)
The ANZ Championship was a men's professional golf tournament, co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia, that was played in Australia between 2002 and 2004. The event had been played as a 72-hole stroke-play tournament on the Australasian tour from 1998 to 2001 as the ANZ Tour Championship. Uniquely for both tours, it was played using a modified stableford scoring system, similar to the former PGA Tour event The International. This departure from the usual stroke play format, designed to encourage more attacking play, was not received with universal approval as the perception was that it would penalise the steadier players. In the final event in 2004, Laura Davies became the first female golfer to compete on either the Australasian or European Tour, but failed to make an impact, missing the cut and finishing in next to last place on −13 points. Port Stevens
Port Stephens Council (also known simply as Port Stephens) is a local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. The area is just north of Newcastle and is adjacent to the Pacific Highway which runs through Raymond Terrace, the largest town and Council seat. Laura Davies
Dame Laura Jane Davies, (born 5 October 1963) is an English female professional golfer. She has achieved the status of her nation's most accomplished female golfer of modern times, being the first non-American to finish at the top of the LPGA money list as well as winning the Ladies European Tour (LET) Order of Merit a record seven times: in 1985, 1986, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2004 and 2006. As of 2018, Davies has 87 professional wins worldwide, with 20 on the LPGA Tour, including four majors. From 1985 to 2010, she won at least one individual title somewhere in the world every season, except for 2005, and was the first golfer, male or female, to win tournaments on five continents in one year. 2003 European Tour
The 2003 European Tour was the 32nd season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season was made up of 45 tournaments counting towards the Order of Merit, which included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, and three non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Order of Merit was won for the first time by South African Ernie Els. The 2003 PGA Tour of Australasia was a series of men's professional golf events played mainly in Australia and New Zealand. The main tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia are played in the southern summer so they are split between the first and last months of the year. Paul Casey
Paul Alexander Casey (born 21 July 1977) is an English golfer who is a member of LIV Golf. He has also played on the US-based PGA Tour and the European Tour. In 2009, he achieved his highest position, third, in the Official World Golf Ranking. The New South Wales Golf Club is a links-style golf course designed by Alister MacKenzie in December 1926. It consists of 18 holes, two of which are beside the Tasman Sea and Botany Bay. The Lakes Golf Club is one of Australia's premier golf courses, located in the Sydney suburb of Eastlakes in New South Wales. Founded in 1928, this prestigious private golf course is approximately a 10-minute drive from Sydney central business district.
