ALT TV
__NOTOC__ ALT TV was a New Zealand broadcast, privately owned and operated 24-hour live-to-air music TV, which aired from 2006 to 2009 and was seen on SKY Digital channel 065. In March 2009, the company was placed into liquidation and the channel went off-air. ALT TV's most recent slogan was 'Know Good Television.' Their previous slogan was 'Actual Music Television.' Created by Thane Kirby (founder of George FM) and Ricky Newby (creator of music festival Deep Hard 'n Funky), it was launched in Auckland on UHF channel 62 on 14 November 2005. The television station also started screening on SKY Digital Channel 36 on Friday, 1 December 2006, later moving to SKY Digital Channel 65 on 1 March 2007. By early 2009 it was under new management. On 4 March 2009 Sky TV stopped transmitting the channel over its digital satellite (DVB-S) service, replacing it with an image stating that ALT TV is no longer available in Sky Digital. Broadcasting Standards Authority
The Broadcasting Standards Authority (BSA; mi, Te Mana Whanonga Kaipāho) is a New Zealand Crown entity created by the Broadcasting Act 1989 to develop and uphold standards of broadcasting for radio, free-to-air and pay television. The main functions of the BSA are to develop and maintain codified broadcasting standards and to operate a complaints procedure. The BSA is made up of a board appointed for a fixed term by the Governor-General on the advice of the Minister of Broadcasting, Communications and Digital Media, meaning that practically the Minister of Broadcasting (and Cabinet) appoint the board. The chair is always a barrister. One member is appointed after consultation with broadcasters and one after consultation with public interest groups. Welcome to the Gun Show is a New Zealand music programme which first went to air on New Zealand's Alt TV, Sky Digital 65. The show is produced by former Lynfield College student Johnathon Leyland. Format The show is designed to support and showcase up and coming young bands. The format of the show consists of performances by bands in their rehearsal venues, and a live in-studio interview. The Gun Show crew includes hosts Johnathon Leyland, Dane Smith from former band Nihilism, Florence and Lawrence from Lynfield College, and young Ella and Ruby Zimmermann. The show has recently branched out into areas that include more than just music, for instance, the show has a number of editors and photography students working behind the scenes. Drum and bass (also written as drum & bass or drum'n'bass and commonly abbreviated as D&B, DnB, or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by fast breakbeats (typically 165–185 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, samples, and synthesizers. The genre grew out of the UK's rave scene in the 1990s. The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other UK dance styles. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music.
