AF Elbasani ( sq, Akademia e Futbollit Elbasani), is a football club based in Elbasan, Albania. The club plays in the Kategoria e Parë, which is the second tier of football in the country. History In 2021, the club was formed by the Elbasan Municipality after the disaggrements with businessman Arben Laze who was the owner of the first football club KF Elbasani. Due to financial bankruptcy KF Elbasani was seized by the Directorate of Taxes in Elbasan. So with the initiative of the fans they found the way and with the cooperation of Elbasan Municipality AF Elbasani was created. In the 2021–2022 season, they competed in the fourth tier of Albanian football Kategoria e Tretë. In their first season, they achieved first place, gaining promotion to Kategoria e Dytë. AF Elbasani in the 2022 - 2023 season promotes to Kategoria e Parë after achieving the first place on Group B to Kategoria e Dytë. Players Current squad Honours League titles * Kate ...

Elbasan ( ; sq-definite, Elbasani ) is the fourth most populous city of Albania and seat of Elbasan County and Elbasan Municipality. It lies to the north of the river Shkumbin between the Skanderbeg Mountains and the Myzeqe Plain in central Albania. Etymology The Albanian name is derived from the Ottoman Turkish ''il-basan'' ("the fortress"). is also the Aromanian name of the city. According to Saliaj the name in antiquity ''Scampa'' is derived from the word ''Shkamba'' ("The Rock or Cliff") in Albanian. Comparing with the name of the river of Elbasan ,''Shkumbini'' ("Scampini in Antiquity"). History In August 2010 archaeologists discovered two Illyrian graves near the walls of the castle of Elbasan.
