AFF Futsal Championship
The AFF Futsal Championship or ASEAN Futsal Championship is an international futsal competition of the Southeast Asian nations and is sanctioned by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). It was first held in 2001 which took place every two years only until 2005, when it became an annual competition. Thailand have won every edition of the competition, except in 2010 where they did not participate. Since 2013, the competitions in odd years have been served as qualifications of AFC Futsal Asian Cup. ASEAN Football Federation
The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) is an organisation within the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and is an international governing body of association football in Southeast Asia. It consists of the federations of Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Despite using "ASEAN" in its name, the AFF is not affiliated with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. History AFF was founded on 31 January 1984 by the meeting in Jakarta of 6 founding member are Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand. 2010 AFF Futsal Championship
The 2010 AFF Futsal Championship was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 5 to 11 April 2010. Defending champions Thailand did not take part at this tournament as they opted to play in the Thai 5s which was being held around the same time in Udon Thani. Hosts Vietnam having already qualified for the 2010 AFC Futsal Championship, were targeting top spot at this edition of the AFF Futsal Championship. The 2019 AFF Futsal Championship will be the 16th edition of the tournament. The tournament was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Same as the previous tournament which were held in odd years, the tournament serves as AFC Futsal Championship qualification. Top 3 teams of the tournament will qualify for 2020 AFC Futsal Championship in Turkmenistan as AFF's representative. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. 2017 AFF Futsal Championship
The 2017 AFF Futsal Championship will be the 14th edition of the tournament. The tournament will be second AFF Futsal Championship to be held in 2017, with the first one originally meant to be hosted in 2016 to be held in early 2017. The tournament served as qualifiers for the 2018 AFC Futsal Championship. Draw The draw was held on 17 February 2017 during the AFF Council Meeting at the Novotel Yangon Max Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar. 2016 AFF Futsal Championship
The 2016 AFF Futsal Championship is the 13th edition of the tournament which been held from 23 January 2017 to 29 January 2017. It was initially planned to be held from 31 October to 6 November 2016. Following the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Football Association of Thailand postponed to host the 2016 AFF Futsal Championship. Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) offered to host 2016 AFF Futsal Championship after Thailand postponed. The event was rescheduled to 9 – 15 November 2016. On 21 October 2016, AFF officially announced that the event will be cancelled due to the withdrawing from being the host of PSSI. AFF asked Singapore to be the new host but they were unable to operate the event in short time of the preparation. 2015 AFF Futsal Championship
The 2015 AFF Futsal Championship was the 12th edition of the tournament which was held in Thailand from 8 to 16 October 2015. This edition will also act as a 2016 AFC Futsal Championship qualification, qualification tournament for the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship.
