AEK Women's Volleyball Club
AEK Women's Volleyball Club is the women's volleyball section of the major Greek multi-sport club of AEK. It was founded in 1995 and has won one Greek Championship (2011–12), one Greek Cup (2022–23), and one Greek Super Cup (2011–12). History The women's volleyball club was established in 1930 and dissolved after a few years. It was re-established in 1995, after a merger with the Alsoupolis group, and participated for the first time in the local championship of Athens. The club gradually gained promotion to A1 Ethniki. Nevertheless, it was not well-prepared for participation in the first professional division and was relegated. In the 2003–04 season, the club competed in the second professional division. The club was promoted to A1 Ethniki after winning the 2005–06 second professional division. In the 2011–12 season, AEK won the A1 Ethniki for the first time in its history against Panathinaikos. A1 Ethniki Women's Volleyball
The Greek Women's Volleyball League is organised by Hellenic Volleyball Federation (Greek:Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Πετοσφαίρισης). In 2021–22 championship took part 14 clubs. Panathinaikos won the first championship in 1971. During the first decade, Panathinaikos and ZAON Kifissia dominated. Panathinaikos have won 24 championships so far, more than any other team. 2014–15 CEV Women's Challenge Cup
The 2014–15 CEV Women's Challenge Cup was the 35th edition of the European Challenge Cup volleyball club tournament, the former "CEV Cup". Format The tournament was played on a knockout format, originally a total of 51 teams were to participate, due to withdraws a total of 49 teams participated. Initially 35 teams were allocated vacancies to enter the competition at the 'Qualification phase', with another 14 teams (after 2 teams withdraw) joining from the Women's CEV Cup entering the competition at the 'Main phase' stage (as per 'Round composition' below). On 12 June 2014, a drawing of lots in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, determined the team's pairing for each match. Each team played a home and an away match with result points awarded for each leg (3 points for 3–0 or 3–1 wins, 2 points for 3–2 win, 1 point for 2–3 loss). Rosir Calderón Díaz (born 28 December 1984) is a Cuban-born Russian volleyball player, who was a member of the Cuban women's national team that won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
