AAPBL
The All-American Professional Basketball League was a minor basketball league formed in 2005 by Worth Christie. Announced on January 23, 2005 the league viewed itself as a direct minor league outlet for the National Basketball Association (NBA). The best players were to be promised salaries of up to $40,000. The league was composed of 10 teams and these ten teams were regionalized with 3-4 NBA teams where the designated AAPBL team could negotiate with players released from those NBA teams before other AAPBL teams could. The AAPBL held a tryout camp at the MetraPark Arena in Billings, Montana from July 11 to July 23. Players paid $1,000 to participate in the training camp. The league held two "dispersal drafts". MetraPark Arena
First Interstate Arena (colloquially known as The Metra) is a multi-purpose arena located at MetraPark, the fairgrounds of Billings, Montana. The arena has a capacity of 8,700 for ice hockey and Indoor American football, indoor football games, 10,500 for basketball, and up to 12,000 for concerts. The arena hosts a variety of local sporting, musical, and other events. It has also hosted professional sporting competitions. In 2005, MetraPark Arena marked its 30th anniversary. The arena was renovated in 2010 and 2011 at a cost of $27 million. History The arena was completed in 1975 and named the METRA, an acronym that stood for Montana Entertainment Trade and Recreation Arena. Jackie Butler
Jackie Butler (born March 10, 1985) is an American retired professional basketball player. Early life Butler was born in McComb, Mississippi and attended McComb High School and originally committed to play at Mississippi State University but failed to qualify academically. He enrolled at Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina for academic purposes but he departed after a reported altercation with a teammate. He then transferred to Coastal Christian Academy prep school in Virginia Beach. Although he wanted to sign with the University of Tennessee in 2004, he decided to declare for the 2004 NBA draft, the first player that year to do so. Randy Livingston
Randy Livingston (born April 2, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player and current coach. He played parts of eleven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for nine different teams. The national high school player in the country in 1993, Livingston's college and professional careers were marked by a series of injuries that hampered his play. Early life Livingston attended New Orleans' Isidore Newman School along with standout quarterback Peyton Manning, where he was named the High School co-player of the year in 1992 (with Jason Kidd) and 1993 (with Rasheed Wallace). Byron Mouton
Byron King Mouton (born April 29, 1978) is an American retired basketball player. He was a starter on the University of Maryland's 2002 national championship team and played professionally in several countries. College career Mouton, a 6'6" swingman from Rayne, Louisiana, originally committed to play basketball at the University of Kentucky, but opted out of his commitment after Wildcats coach Rick Pitino left to coach the Boston Celtics in 1997. Rashaad Dominic Powell (born June 14, 1981 in Renton, Washington) is an American basketball coach and former player. He played college basketball for Idaho, where he was named the Big West Conference Defense Player of the Year in 2004, and later professionally for several seasons. Ronald Blackshear Jr. (born May 24, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in leagues in the United States, Cyprus, Argentina, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Romania.
