AAA Latin American Championship
The AAA Latin American Championship (''Campeonato Latinoamericano AAA'' in Spanish) is a professional wrestling championship promoted by the Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) promotion in Mexico. The championship is generally contested in professional wrestling matches, in which participants execute scripted finishes rather than contend in direct competition. History The title was first announced on May 18, 2011, as part of a storyline, where wrestlers from American promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) invaded AAA. It was revealed that on June 18 at ''Triplemanía'' XIX AAA's Dr. Wagner Jr. would face TNA's Rob Van Dam for the newly created AAA Latin American Championship. No qualification matches took place prior to the match. Wagner went on to defeat Van Dam in the main event of Triplemanía XIX to become the first champion. Rey Fénix (born December 30, 1990) is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'' (masked professional wrestler) signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), where he is current double champion as the Latin American and World Cruiserweight Champion. Triplemanía XIX was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the AAA promotion, which took place on June 18, 2011 at the Palacio de los Deportes ("Sports Palace") in Mexico City, Mexico. The event was the nineteenth annual Triplemanía, which is AAA's biggest show of the year. The event featured performers from American promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) for the second year in a row. The event featured eight matches and was headlined by the culmination of the seven–month storyline rivalry between L.A. Adolfo Margarito Tapia Ibarra (November 14, 1965) is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'' ( masked professional wrestler), who currently performs as L. A. Park for Major League Wrestling in the United States, where he is a former MLW World Tag Team Champion. He also performs for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) in Mexico. Triplemanía XXX was a three-day professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event promoted and produced by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA or Triple A). The event was held on April 30, June 18, and October 15, 2022. He is currently signed to both Impact Wrestling and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, but is currently inactive due to abdominal surgery.
