Aīda Niedra
Aīda Niedra (March 23, 1899 – November 23, 1972) was a Latvian writer. She is considered one of the most important Latvian women novelists. She was born Ida Niedra in Vidzeme. After completing secondary school, she worked as secretary to a justice of the peace in Riga Riga (; lv, Rīga , liv, Rīgõ) is the capital and largest city of Latvia and is home to 605,802 inhabitants which is a third of Latvia's population. Vidzeme (; Old Latvian orthography: ''Widda-semme'', liv, Vidūmō) is one of the Historical Latvian Lands. The capital of Latvia, Riga, is situated in the southwestern part of the region.
