Aéroport Charles De Gaulle 1 (Paris RER)
Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 is one of two railway stations at Charles de Gaulle Airport, the primary airport for the Paris region and the largest in France. The station is served by RER B (a hybrid suburban commuter and rapid transit line that offers services to Paris) and CDGVAL (a free rail shuttle service around the airport grounds). Despite being named after Terminal 1, the station is actually located relatively far from the terminal, but it can be accessed with a short ride on the CDGVAL. Terminal 3 can also be accessed from this station by a five-minute walk on a pathway. The station is located inside Roissypôle, a development that includes office buildings (including the headquarters of Air France), shopping areas, hotels, and the primary bus station for the airport. RER B
RER B is one of the five lines in the Réseau Express Régional (English: Regional Express Network), a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris, France and its Île-de-France suburbs. The RER B line crosses the region from north to south, with all trains serving a group of stations in central Paris, before branching out towards the ends of the line. The line opened in stages starting in December 1977 by connecting two existing suburban commuter rail lines with a new tunnel under Paris: the Chemin de Fer du Nord to the north (which formerly terminated at Gare du Nord) and the Ligne de Sceaux to the south (which formerly terminated at Luxembourg station). The Réseau Express Régional ( en, Regional Express Network), commonly abbreviated RER (), is a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France, suburbs. It acts as a combined city-centre underground rail system and suburbs-to-city-centre commuter rail. In the city centre it acts much like the Paris Métro, though faster, having fewer stops. Paul Andreu
Paul Andreu (10 July 1938 – 11 October 2018) was a French architect, known for his designs of multiple airports such as Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, and multiple prestigious projects in China, including the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. He also designed an airport terminal in Dubai, that collapsed during construction. Early life and education Andreu was born at Caudéran (Gironde), in southwest France. He graduated in 1958 from the École Polytechnique and continued his studies at the École des ponts ParisTech, graduating in 1961. He next studied under architect Paul Lamarche in the École des Beaux-Arts, graduating in 1968. Brutalist architecture is an architectural style that emerged during the 1950s in the United Kingdom, among the reconstruction projects of the post-war era.
