Azhagi (TV Series)
''Azhagi'' is an Indian Tamil-language television soap opera that aired on Sun TV from 10 October 2011 to 4 March 2016 for 1101 episodes. The show starred Viji Chandrasekhar, Kamal Deep, Soniya and Ilavarasan. It was produced by Vikatan Televistas Pvt Ltd and director by V.C Ravi, A. Jawahar, E. Vikramadhithan and M.Iniyan Dinesh. The series has been remade into Telugu language as ''Amma'' broadcast on Gemini TV, and Malayalam language as Amma Manasam broadcast on Surya TV. Plot synopsis Azhagi is the story of Sundari (Viji Chandrasekhar), 40-year-old widow, who has struggled for the last 20 years with the sole aim of bringing up her children all by herself. Sun Kudumbam Awards
The Sun Kudumbam Awards is an awards ceremony held to honour the cast and crew of the television serials which air on Sun TV, presented by Sun Network. This is the first time in the Tamil Television industry where awards are given for performances in Television serials. The first awards ceremony happened in 2010 and it is a biennial award ceremony. Nominations The top four performances in all serials, including the serials that have ended the past year, in different categories are chosen by jurors. During February and March, the nominees are interviewed on Sun TV and viewers are asked to cast their votes by text messaging their favourite actor in each category. The actor receiving the highest votes are proclaimed winner of the award in that category. Ilavarasu is an Indian cinematographer and actor, who works in the Tamil film industry. He started his career as a cinematographer and worked for 13 films, winning a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for one of them. He, however, became better known as an actor, after he debuted and appeared in pivotal roles in Bharathiraja's and Cheran's films. Nanjil Nalini
Nanjil Nalini (1944-2020) was an Indian actress who mainly appeared in Tamil films and TV serials (soap-operas), in a career spanning over 50 years. She started as a child artist in theatre at age 12 and later went on act in over 100 films. She was honoured with the kalaimamani award in 1978. Nalini died in Chennai on 19 January 2020, aged 76.
