Azerbaijani Hip Hop
Azerbaijani hip hop ( az, Azərbaycan hip-hopu) is the musical genre which became popular in Azerbaijan in mid-1990s. It's a mix of native meykhana genre of Azerbaijani music with Western hip hop. History The first Azerbaijani hip-hop song "Dünənki keçdi" (Yesterday is Past), created in 1983 by Chingiz Mustafayev, who would later become Azerbaijan's national hero for unrelated reasons. The pioneer of Azerbaijani rap often associated with name of Anar Nagilbaz in 1992, which also included elements of disco but the popularity of the rap genre came with the rise of Dayirman, which included primarily patriotic elements. In 2000s, despite mass emergence of independent rappers like Elşad Xose and Huseyn Derya and popularity of hip-hop shows like "Mən də varam" on Space TV, only a few Azerbaijani rap artists have achieved commercial success. Mugham
Mugham ( az, Muğam) or Mughamat ( az, Muğamat) is one of the many classical compositions from Azerbaijan, contrasting with tasnif and ashik. It is a highly complex art form that weds classical poetry and musical improvisation in specific local modes. Mugham is a modal system. Unlike Western modes, "mugham" modes are associated not only with scales but with an orally transmitted collection of melodies and melodic fragments that performers use in the course of improvisation. Mugham is a compound composition of many parts. The choice of a particular mugham and a style of performance fits a specific event. The dramatic unfolding in performance is typically associated with increasing intensity and rising pitches, and a form of poetic-musical communication between performers and initiated listeners. Huseyn Derya
Huseyn Muradov (29 June 1975 – 15 March 2014), better known by his stage name Huseyn Derya, was an award-winning Azerbaijani rapper and actor from Baku, Azerbaijan. Early life Darya was born on June 29, 1975, in Baku, the district of Bakikhanov. He graduated from Baku secondary school No. 4, and accepted to Baku State University, but at the same time there was a war in Azerbaijan. He dropped out of university and joined the army. After coming back from the war, he continued his career as a musician. On March 14, 2014, he was badly injured in a traffic accident, and died on the next day. Mir Yusif Mir Heydar oglu Mirbabayev ( az, Miryusif Mirheydər oğlu Mirbabayev, Мирјусиф Мирһејдәр оғлу Мирбабајев, born 27 October 1977), better known as Miri Yusif, is an Azerbaijani rapper, singer-songwriter. Miri Yusif first emerged as a hip hop artist, part of Dayirman, which released their debut album Qurd in 2001. Azerbaijani pop music ( az, Azərbaycan pop musiqisi) is a pop music created in Azerbaijan. The emergence of Azerbaijani pop music dates back to the mid-20th century. ''Layla & Majnun'' ( ar, مجنون ليلى ; '''Layla's Mad Lover) is an old story of Arab origin, about the 7th-century Bedouin poet Qays ibn al-Mulawwah and his ladylove Layla bint Mahdi (later known as Layla al-Aamiriya). "The Layla-Majnun theme passed from Arabic to Persian, Turkish, and Indian languages", through the narrative poem composed in 584/1188 by the Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, as the third part of his ''Khamsa''.
