Ayr was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1950 to 2005. Ayr Burghs was a district of burghs constituency of the House of Commons of Great Britain, House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1708 to 1800 and of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1950. Kincaidston
Kincaidston is a housing scheme in the town of Ayr in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The estate borders Belmont to the north, Alloway to the west and the A77 to the south and east. History The estate was built in the 1970s. It was built by Kyle and Carrick District Council and Digital Equipment Corporation to house workers for a nearby factory development. The estate remains partly in council hands (now South Ayrshire Council) although many of the houses are now privately owned. Most of the streets are named after flowers (for example, Celandine Bank, Honeysuckle Park and Speedwell Square) apart from Kincaidston Drive, the estate's main road. Prior to development, Kincaidston was a farm on the outskirts of Ayr. During World War I, a Sopwith Camel crashed at the farm, killing the pilot, Captain Victor George Anderson Bush, who had been based at No.1 School of Aerial Fighting at Turnberry. Corraine Wilson (born 11 April 1965) is a Scottish politician and former civil servant, serving as Director of Operations for the Alba Party since February 2025. William Grant (born 14 August 1951) is a Scottish Conservative Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock UK Parliamentary constituency from June 2017 to November 2019. Early life A miner's son, Grant was raised in Rankinston in Doon Valley, East Ayrshire, and educated at Littlemill Primary in northern Rankinston and Cumnock Academy. After his education, Grant moved to Ayr and worked in the fire brigade for 31 years, retiring as a deputy commander in the Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service. He served as a justice of the peace for ten years on Ayr District Court. Kilwinning (, ; ) is a town in North Ayrshire, Scotland. It is located on the banks of the River Garnock in Ayrshire, west/central Scotland, about southwest of Glasgow. Kilwinning's neighbours are the coastal towns of Stevenston to the west and Irvine, North Ayrshire, Irvine to the south while inland lies Dalry, North Ayrshire, Dalry to the north. Auchincruive
Auchincruive is a former country house and estate in South Ayrshire, Scotland. It is located east of Ayr, on the north bank of the River Ayr. Auchincruive House was built in the 18th century on the site of an earlier mansion. In 1927, the estate became the West of Scotland College of Agriculture, and the house was renamed Oswald Hall. The college became the Scottish Agricultural College in 1990. In 2007 the college announced that the site would be disposed of for redevelopment, and masterplan proposals were approved by South Ayrshire Council in January 2011. The house is protected as a category A listed building, along with other buildings on the estate. The estate is included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens. Troon (Scottish Gaelic: ''An Truthail'') is a town and sea port in South Ayrshire, situated on the west coast of Ayrshire in Scotland, about north of Ayr and northwest of Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Troon has a port with ferry and freight services, and a yacht marina. Up until January 2016, P&O Ferries, P&O operated a seasonal ferry service to Larne. In May 2006, a ferry service to Campbeltown was added, although this was withdrawn the following year.
