Ayawaso West Wuogon (Ghana Parliament Constituency)
Ayawaso West or Ayawaso West Wuogon is one of the constituencies in Accra represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Ayawaso West is located in the Accra Metropolitan Area of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare
Frema Opare, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare (born 1948) is an astute development practitioner, an academic, and a Ghanaian politician. She represented Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Parliament of Ghana. She is the current and first female Chief of Staff of Ghana. Early life and education Frema was born on 6 June 1948. She hails from Wiamoase in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She had her bachelor's degree in Home Science from the University of Ghana. She proceeded to University of Guelph for a master's degree in Food Science. Career Frema lectured at the University of Ghana as a lecturer at the Department of Home Science from 1976 to 1982. She eventually became the Head of department. She has also worked with the United Nations in the Women In Fisheries project in various capacities in Uganda, Ethiopia, Congo and Namibia. Convention People's Party
The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a Socialism, socialist political party in Ghana based on the ideas of the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah. The CPP was formed in June 1949 after Nkrumah broke away from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). Nkrumah was the then appointed Secretaty General of the UGCC when he was arrested by the leader of the UGCC and imprisoned for an alleged thought, plans and power against Kwame Nkrumah's leadership. Kwame Nkrumah then formed the Convention People's Party with support of some UGCC members and had a purpose for self governance. Progressive People's Party (Ghana)
Progressive People's Party (PPP) ( ak, Kɔ anim ɔmanfo Apontow) is a political party in Ghana. It was formed in 2012 by Paa Kwesi Nduom, the presidential candidate for the Convention People's Party in the 2008 general election. PPP pulled 64,267 popular votes in the 2012 general elections with Papa Kwesi Nduom as a flagbearer and Brigitte Dzogbenuku as the running mate, making it the third largest party and the second largest opposition party in Ghana. People's National Convention (Ghana)
The People's National Convention is a political party in Ghana. After constitutional rule was restored back in Ghana in 1992 the party was formed by former President Hilla Limann based on ideals from the People's National Party (Ghana) which he led in the 1979 elections and won. John Dumelo
John Dumelo (born 3 February 1984) is a Ghanaian actor, farmer and politician. On 1 April 2014 he emerged as the first Ghanaian to hit a million likes on Facebook. His parents are Mr. John Dumelo who was a Civil Engineer and Mrs. Antoinette Dumelo a Customs Officer. 2019 Ayawaso West By-election
The Ayawaso West (Ghana parliament constituency), Ayawaso West by-election took place on 31 January 2019 after the death of the incumbent MP Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko on 21 November 2018. Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party was elected with 69% of the vote. Violence Violence erupted in the area of the La-Bawaleshie Polling place, polling station two hours after the election had started, though there was no death recorded there were casualties. Ningo-Prampram MP Sam Nartey George, Sam George was assaulted and 18 people were wounded by gunshot. According to Yen.com.gh, YEN.com, the perpetrators were masked men and alleged to be National Security Operatives.
