Awesome Festival
The Awesome Festival (in full the Awesome International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things) is an arts event in Perth, Western Australia held annually since 1995. The participation and interaction of younger visitors is encouraged by street theatre, interactive art, dance workshops, film screenings and musical performances. It is organised and run by Awesome Arts Australia, a not-for-profit company based in Perth. The company running the festival is also involved with separate programs, including a food art program in the remote mining town of Leonora and school community projects that create works to showcase at the festival. Some of these are sponsored by its commercial partner, the multinational mining company BHP Nickel West. Perth Cultural Centre
The Perth Cultural Centre is an area of central Perth, Western Australia, near the James Street Mall. It is home to a number of cultural institutions including the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Western Australian Museum, State Library of Western Australia, State Records Office, State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Blue Room plus a number of coffee shops and bars. The Perth Cultural Centre precinct is bound by Roe Street, Aberdeen Street, Beaufort Street and William Street in the suburb of Perth. Chunky Move
Chunky Move is an Australian contemporary dance company from Southbank, Victoria It was founded in 1995 and debuted at the Melbourne International Arts Festival with artistic director Gideon Obarzanek. The company's work is diverse and has included stage, new-media and installation works. Chunky Move has toured extensively including the United States of America, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Hungary, United Kingdom, Colombia, Japan, Belgium, Canada and Russia. Reviews of their performances are regularly published in the Village Voice. In 2011 Gideon Obarzanek announced that he would be stepping down as artistic director. Located along the southern Adriatic, the area was part of Magna Grecia and certainly one of the centers of Ancient Greek music.
