Awesome (The Temptations Album)
''Awesome'' is a 2001 album by the Tempations. Despite many changes in personnel, the album became the 45th to reach the ''Billboard'' 200, the first being ''Meet the Temptations'' in 1964. The lone single "4 Days" peaked at #19 on the Urban Adult Contemporary Charts. It is the last album to featured Barrington “Bo” Henderson and Harry McGilberry before they were fired from the group in 2003. Reception According to Jason Birchmeier of AllMusic, ''Awesome'' contains "mostly ballads here and some innocent concessions to the hip-hop audience." The sound is similar to the group's surprisingly successful predecessor, '' Ear-Resistible'', although "less rewarding", but it is still "the Temptations sounding like the Temptations." The Temptations
The Temptations are an American vocal group from Detroit, Michigan, who released a series of successful singles and albums with Motown Records during the 1960s and 1970s. The group's work with producer Norman Whitfield, beginning with the Top 10 hit single " Cloud Nine" in October 1968, pioneered psychedelic soul, and was significant in the evolution of R&B and soul music. The band members are known for their choreography, distinct harmonies, and dress style. Having sold tens of millions of albums, the Temptations are among the most successful groups in popular music. Featuring five male vocalists and dancers (save for brief periods with fewer or more members), the group formed in 1960 in Detroit under the name ''the Elgins''. Harry McGilberry
Harry McGilberry (January 19, 1950 – April 3, 2006) was an American Rhythm and blues, R&B and soul music, soul singer and latter-day Bass guitar, bass singer for The Temptations between 1995 and 2003. Born Harry McGilberry Jr. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, McGilberry was a member of the R&B group The Futures and later the Temptations, replacing ailing bassist and former P-Funk member Ray Davis (musician), Ray Davis to join the quintet in 1995 and recorded the albums ''Phoenix Rising (Temptations album), Phoenix Rising'', ''Ear-Resistible'' and ''Awesome'' with them. McGilberry was fired from the group in 2003 by Temptations leader Otis Williams for a reported drug habit (he was replaced by Joe Herndon of The Spaniels). He later joined a Temptations splinter group, 'The Temptations Experience', replacing the then recently departed Ray Davis. A tenor is a type of classical music, classical male singing human voice, voice whose vocal range lies between the countertenor and baritone voice types. It is the highest male chest voice type. Terry Wayne Weeks (born December 23, 1963) is an American R&B and soul singer who is currently one of the lead singers of the legendary Motown quintet The Temptations.http://www.thetemptations.com/ Temptations Official Website Early life Weeks was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Smokey Robinson
William "Smokey" Robinson Jr. (born February 19, 1940) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and former record executive director. He was the founder and front man of the Motown vocal group the Miracles, for which he was also chief songwriter and producer. He led the group from its 1955 origins as "the Five Chimes" until 1972, when he announced his retirement from the group to focus on his role as Motown's vice president. However, Robinson returned to the music industry as a solo artist the following year. Robinson left Motown Records in 1990, following the sale of the company two years earlier. Barrington "Bo" Henderson
Barrington Scott "Bo" Henderson (born June 10, 1956, in Washington, Pennsylvania) is an American R&B singer. Biography Barrington's mother, Joyce St. Amie, was an electric jazz singer. Barrington grew up in the music industry, travelling with his mother and stepfather, James Vaughn, a noted jazz pianist which left him with several Vaughn siblings. Barrington began playing the drums as a pre-teen. He has been a member of the R&B group Lakeside, and was a member of The Dramatics for a year before becoming a lead singer of The Temptations from 1998 to 2003.
